Despite its tumultuous development cycle, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a grand achievement that impressed from beginning to end with its fantastic presentation and thrilling set pieces- brought together as a total package with a cast of unique playable characters and satisfying combat that I can see myself continue to “Zeta Dive” back into for many more hours to come.

Fun Tidbit: There's also the inclusion of a mini story FMV that links FFX and X-2 together and the standalone tower climbing mini game for FFX-2 along with a credits/audio drama.

8.5 / 10.0 - Titan Souls
Apr 17, 2015

After my playthrough, I can safely say that while this is certainly no souls game, it's one worthy of the time of anyone who seeks a truly rewarding challenge.

[E]ven with its faults, GGXrd is an excellent foundation for the inevitable half dozen or so iterations to come. While it may prove to be a divisive title in the hardcore community, it's an excellent point for newcomers to jump in and learn firsthand why the name "Guilty Gear" commands so much respect in the fighting game community.

8.5 / 10.0 - Dark Souls II
May 6, 2014

It's a testament to the series brand as a whole to make an otherwise solid title feel disappointing, but I've come to expect more and I hope they find the right path through the dark in the next sequel.

At the end of the day, Gods Will Be Watching is a title I'm sure to remember for some time for its many intense moments, but in the back of my mind, I'll always ponder what could have been if they'd fully realized their ambitions.

8.5 / 10.0 - Astebreed

Luckily, the added difficulty modes and competing for the best score on the leaderboards adds some replay value, but some might consider the $19.99 asking price a bit steep for what's on offer. For others like me, this is a little slice of bullet heaven that the PS4 has been long awaiting.

From the very first episode, I considered Wolf Among Us to be Telltale's finest work yet, and after episode 3, my opinion hasn't changed. Now all that remains is the excruciating wait for episode four.

The most important thing is that while I wasn't in as much of a shock when I got to the cliffhanger at the end of this episode, I was left wanting more, and if episode three was installed and ready to go, there is no doubt in my mind that I would've happily played on. Nothing else needs to be said.

8.5 / 10.0 - Pokken Tournament
Mar 22, 2016

I certainly had my doubts about Pokkén when I booted it up for the first time, but it's safe to say that it's thoroughly won me over. The vibrant visuals with some spectacular animations, along with a combat system that's deceptively deep but simple to grasp makes Pokkén easy to recommend to anyone, whether they be a fan of Pokemon or not.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has a firm grasp on what made the original title so iconic- providing some of the best variety in how a player could approach every objective and making each of them feel just as fun and satisfying as the other.

Fun Tidbit – The music in this game is quite odd. I can swear I heard someone singing about sushi at one point.

8.5 / 10.0 - Project X Zone 2
Feb 12, 2016

Project X Zone 2 is a deeper, more satisfying experience as it is greatly improved from the original in every single way. It's a shrine to a great cast of characters we've grown fond of over the years, carefully crafted by people who love these characters just as much as we do.

Despite the drastic change in gameplay styles, Ultra Despair Girls succeeds not only in staying true to the overall tone and feel of the series, but also in providing a fresh experience to the fans that might have grown weary of the visual novel formula.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tales of Hearts R

Still, at the end of the day Tales of Hearts R is a testament to the fact that with enough care and attention to detail, a venerable series can make the transition to the portable market with great success.

The story begins as a terrifyingly handsome (or sexy, if you prefer) face appears on the sun and iota begins his quest to deliver a message to you, the sun.

Gust’s first foray on the PS4 with their flagship Atelier title is a rousing success, and even though I lament the removal of the time limit mechanic from the series, it still proves one of the strongest entries the franchise has had to date, and one of the best RPGs available on the PS4.

8.5 / 10.0 - Titanfall 2
Nov 8, 2016

Titanfall 2 is the product of a developer that took to heart all the criticism that was thrown at the original. Even though the single player campaign treads familiar ground and falters in some areas, it’s a solid effort with some great moments that I’m sure to remember. The multiplayer is finely tuned, with a great variety of modes that offer different experiences.

Going into Shantae: Half-Genie Hero as someone who had no experience with the series has left me feeling impressed by the undeniable charm of the titular heroine, and has all but guaranteed that I will be going back to check out the earlier games in the franchise for some more half-genie action.
