Broken Sword 5 is a reminder of just how entertaining point and click adventures can be. It might have been a while since they were the cutting edge of the industry, but they are still capable of great stories, gameplay and humour. Broken Sword 5 is an instant classic and well worth playing through.

8.6 / 10.0 - Armello
Sep 12, 2015

Armello is a game with some deeply complex but very rewarding mechanics. If you like board games, or want to take your first step into the genre, Armello is one of the best options currently.

8.8 / 10.0 - LEGO Dimensions
Oct 6, 2015

This a great break away from for the Lego series with some clever tricks to keep the old mechanics fresh and lovely design. Seeing your favourite shows and games Legoified never gets old, and having them collide is as funny as you'd hope.

Wasteland 2 Director's Cut is, at the minute, somewhat of a disappointment for consoles. The wonder and sense of exploration it was attempting is severely diminished because the controls, and the bugs make it hard to enjoy. Hopefully this can be fixed in future releases, but at the time of writing, Wasteland 2 is just shy of being really worth playing.

Fans of action adventure games will love this title. Even if you've never heard of, thought about, or enjoyed Transformers in the past, its simple, perfectly balanced mechanics and jaw dropping combat will keep you coming back for more. That's not to mention actual fans of the Transformers franchise, who should be really excited for this game.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is an amazing action/adventure. It has evolved past its humble crusading beginning, and entered the industrial age of looming cities, intriguing missions and solid combat. While it still isn't the most challenging game, it proves to be warm, friendly and massively engrossing.

This is a game everyone with interest in RPGs should have a look it. Inspired but pen and papers games with a really incredible, intelligent combat system and some really engaging stories, there isn't anyone who loves the genre that won't enjoy this game.

This is a game everyone with interest in RPGs should have a look at. Inspired by P&P games with a really intelligent combat system and some truly engaging stories, hardly anyone who loves the genre won't enjoy this game, and the Enhanced Edition is even better than the original release.

Darksiders 2 is a good game, just not necessarily as good as your other options right now. One day, when you're desperate to play an adventure title and you've completed everything else this will be an enjoyable treat, but for now, I'd wait.

Though it might not be the next AAA FPS to attempt to dethrone Call of Duty, it offers a remarkable amount of variety and fun in its package. This is an experience only just arriving on the console shores and one that looks to pave the way for more to come in the future. Great fun, easy to play and very chaotic. The perfect Christmas present.

7.2 / 10.0 - Amplitude HD

Amplitude won't take over your Rock Band party nights, but it might be quirky enough to give you a few evenings of trippy, challenging button mashing. If you enjoy music games, give it a try.

9.4 / 10.0 - Oxenfree
Jan 26, 2016

Oxenfree is whole heartedly one of the best experiences you can have playing games. It is a cornerstone example of how stories can be told in an interactive media, and how to build a supernatural tone around 'average' characters without exaggerating everything.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers is exactly as good as you want it to be. If you enjoy LEGO games this is another in a long line of titles that you can pick up and play with ease, preferably with a friend. If LEGO are not for you, LEGO Avengers does nothing new to win you over.

This War of Mine: The Little Ones adds more to the game that makes it both wholeheartedly enjoyable and deeply distressing. Its survival mechanics are impressively weighted, and the events throughout the war are harrowing. This feels like a game everyone should experience for themselves.

Fans of the survival genre will find something refreshing in The Flame in the Flood. And although it can be a little rough around the edges at times, the themes and design of the game make for an interesting and enveloping game.

Although it might not be dragging people away from Call of Duty or the giants of the genre, PvZ: Garden Warfare 2 has a great atmosphere and some really enjoyable moments. If you've ever wanted to do battle as a piece of corn, sunflower or superhero zombie, this might be the only game to fill that niche.

While it might miss a trick from time to time, overall Dunegon of the Endless a great little game. Although doing well means you'll be spending two hours jumping from floor to floor, for the most part it feels like a satisfying game to pick up and play for half an hour, vowing to do better next time.

Adam Venture is a good attempt at an exploration puzzle game. Although it isn't perfect, there is a lot to like within the game. Whether this can be improved in the future is yet to be seen, but for now there is enough to enjoy, although maybe not for the price tag on release.

8 / 10.0 - Battleborn

If you've ever wondered what the fuss of MOBAs are, or wanted a little more shooter in your battle arena, Battleborn is perfect for you. It is so different from the competitive shooters on the market at the minute. Once you get through the initial trail and error, you won't look back at all.

6.2 / 10.0 - Hard Reset Redux
Jun 9, 2016

Hard Reset Redux is not a bad game, but nor is it something you'll feel particularly satisfied putting an afternoon into. Its dreary setting has been better explored in games like Deus Ex and its combat has been better exploited in Doom. If this year hadn't already been so stellar for amazing releasing, Hard Reset would be more welcome, as it stands, there's a lot better to spend your time on.
