Rayman Legends is a game that deserves to be played by everyone. The art style and music are some of my favorite from this generation, and compliment each other outstandingly. If you are looking to get the best experience grab the 360 or PS3 version, but the Vita and Wii U versions are only slightly inferior. The extensive amount of content will make sure you lose yourself for days.
If you have experience exploring the outdoors, or want to better understand what it is to duality of feeling like a pioneer in an undiscovered location while simultaneously feeling secluded and vulnerable Firewatch might resonate as strongly with you as it did with me.
Alan Wake 2 is an incredibly rich narrative driven experience with such impressive visuals and performance that truly feels like a next-generation experience.
I have been waiting, and craving a game like Axiom Verge and it delivers in almost every way.
The Ultimate Evil Edition is the best version of Diablo III that I have played. Even if you have already played a lot of the game on PC, there is a lot of new content mixed in with the engaging Diablo III systems.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the strongest, most entertaining, single-player experiences of 2015.
The Witness is at its best when it is teaching you its mechanics simply by exploring the world and playing the game.
Superhot is sizzling with style and mixes the first-person shooter and puzzle genres in a way that truly feels innovative.
Destiny 2 is easily one of the best shooters to date.
The neon 90s aesthetic, with the jammin’ classic soundtrack pair together to whisper the perfect recipe for an overly-extreme fake sport that everyone should try.
If you didn’t like Cuphead when it first came out Delicious Last CourseI isn’t gonna change your mind. It’s both more of the same and also a whole new challenge to learn. The blending of challenging but fair gameplay and incredibly detailed artwork and style are unrivaled across the industry. I do hope that one day accessibility options are added, so more people can experience everything Cuphead has to offer, but on a personal level I do still love the challenge and difficulty. I hope The Delicious last Course isn’t the last we see for Cuphead content, I’d happily throw down at least $8 every few years for more new experiences in this style.
Episode One of The Wolf Among Us is dark and beautiful at the same time. The game scratches a crime noir itch even though the detective work is on the lighter side. While we will have to wait until the end of the season to see how impactful the different decision branches are, Telltale does a great job at making the choices feeling meaningful while not presenting a clear path. The voice acting is strong, the art is beautiful. If you like adventure games with a dark story, it would be remiss of you to not play The Wolf Among Us.
Guitar Hero: Live takes the plastic instrument genre of music rhythm games and modernizes it in a way that feels appropriate of next generation consoles.
The Deadly Tower of Monsters is a shining example of how campy themes can be done intentionally and still be humorous.
StarCraft: Remastered is a complete package that brings an RTS classic into a format that is easier to digest on modern computers and screens.
Bloober Team has taken what they learned with Layers of Fear and delivered a more immersive world, and a equally as creepy story, even if the gameplay does get in the way of itself from time to time.
Dance Central Spotlight is a great Kinect game on Xbox One with excellent body tracking and feedback. The lack of included tracks and modes makes it a lesser experience than previous titles but it's not a deal breaker. The small amount of starting songs is a bummer, but Harmonix has continuously proven its DLC support, as long as you don't mind throwing down some extra cash.
The Director's cut of QUBE is the best version of the game, and a good time to replay it, solely for the added story content.
If diverse gameplay, interesting mechanics or traditional horror is what you seek, you won't find what you are looking for with SOMA.
Phantom Trigger has a beautiful style, pixel art in a good way with faux-artifacting, bright colors and lovely lighting.
