Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection brings two games of the acknowledged series to the Nintendo Switch and one of the best things that can be said is that they still hold the test of time. The sea battles are still enjoyable and the heaps of content to explore, courtesy of the additional content as well, make this compilation a very welcome contribution to the catalogue of the Nintendo Switch, even more so in time for the holiday season.

Super Street: Racer puts the player in control of an old piece of junk with wheels with the goal of improving it and make it a fast and able racing car. The gameplay experience is eminently arcade-based and features plenty of customization options but while there's no online component and the audiovisual environment is not jaw-dropping, there's still enough reasons for arcade racing fans to enjoy Super Street: Racer.

6 / 10 - WRC 8
Dec 7, 2019

If the career mode is an example of how to do an in-depth competition and its gameplay is challenging and fits perfectly with what is expected of rally simulators, the was the game was converted leaves a lot of gaps to fill. Its low quality performance when running on the Switch screen is the most difficult to handle, while the lack of multiplayer is simply unacceptable and the player's interface is confusing. This version of WRC 8 will attend to purists who can look beyond the flaws but others will be rather put off.

Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands is an interesting adventure RPG with plenty of mechanics that involve resource-gathering, cooking and exploration and which features a world with a soul of its own. Where Stranded Sails disappoints is in what regards its rather shallow combat and repetitiveness of some objectives, as well as the technical bugs that affect the experience. A work that's aimed at those who are very much into gathering and production of resources.

Away: Journey to the Unexpected on the Nintendo Switch features some good ideas when it comes to the bonding system between characters and boasts an appealing visual environment. However, on the depth and overall quality of the experience this feels like a game that doesn't live up to its potential. With a gameplay that is rather shallow and a disappointing plot, Away: Journey to the Unexpected falls short of what it could have been.

Thanks to its quality plot and presentation and to the weight of the actions that the players' role commits them to, We. The Revolution knows how to engage and the experience would be even more enjoyable were it not for some adaptation issues related to control problems and the small size of the text on the Nintendo Switch screen.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 lands on the Nintendo Switch in what is one remarkable adaptation of this colossal RPG. Thanks to its in-depth gameplay experience, an involving, well-written plot and the immense freedom given to the player for exploring, Divinity: Original Sin II is one outstanding game that will require a lot of dedication from the players but which will undoubtedly reward them in every way.

Star Wars Pinball is an exquisite work that will delight any Star Wars fan with its immense amount of content, surprising level of depth for a pinball game, and high production values, including ways of delivering an experience as close as possible to a real pinball game. Truly a top-brass work in the pinball genre and which fits perfectly in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

The Contra series lands on the Nintendo Switch under the name of Contra Rogue Corps. If by itself this should be a reason to celebrate, a closer look reveals an opportunity that missed all its objectives. The Contra series is mostly appreciated for its fun, non-stop and frantic action and gameplay, but Rogue Corps brings a gameplay tarnished by lack of precision and frustration, as well as a limited performance where its audiovisual component is concerned.

Raiden V: Director's Cut brings the expanded version of this vertical shoot'em-up to the Nintendo Switch, with its mix of frantic action, local co-op mode and top notch soundtrack. Its minor flaws, such as an overwhelming amount of information, are easily drowned by the game's enveloping pace. Raiden V: Director's Cut is easily one of the finest shoot'em-ups available for the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

The Shapeshifting Detective is another example in the return of games based on the use of Full Motion Video and one which boasts a very good quality in that medium. The environment of mystery and suspense and the ability of the protagonist to assume the shape of any character stand out as the game's best qualities at the same time that a certain lack of interactivity and a plot with pacing issues keep this work from becoming a must buy.

FIFA 20: Legacy Edition is not a game - it's an update of a good game, an update which brings the necessary yearly changes regarding squads and jerseys...but nothing more. This would matter less if FIFA 2020: Legacy Edition was not being sold at the price of a regular game, but it is. EA is not treating players with respect and this formula does not deserve to be purchased, let alone at full price.

7 / 10 - Golazo!
Sep 29, 2019

Golazo! is an action-based football experience that chooses to focus on what's fun instead of trying to create a realistic simulation and it does a very good job at that - intense, enjoyable and with a well-crafted local multiplayer, Golazo! will not become a fan favourite among those looking for serious simulators but it will be very appreciated by players looking for a less structured, rule-based experience.

LEGO Jurassic World recreates several scenes of the Jurassic Park series in the LEGO fashion that we've got to know and this game features a healthy amount of humor and good co-op mechanics which will suit younger players and family gaming sessions perfectly. While it doesn't feature any groundbreaking new features, there's enough in LEGO Jurassic World to keep players entertained across different ages.

Bulletstorm: Duke for Switch Edition lands on the Nintendo Switch as a humorous, visceral and fun FPS, with a creative system that pushes the player towards using their mind in a way as twisted and outrageous as possible when it comes to eliminating enemies. While the game could certainly feature a multiplayer component, this edition of Bulletstorm for the Switch has enough assets to make itself a good option for some intense, comedic, morbid action.

7 / 10 - Snooker 19
Sep 4, 2019

Snooker 19 will fit less with beginners, as the game's tutorials are very short and the difficulty level is high. While the game feels rather limited in its career mode and the players' animations are robotic, Snooker 19 is a good contribution to the Switch catalogue.

Jack N' Jill DX fits in one of the simplest categories of contemporary games, that of platform runners. As such, the game is very accessible and requires only one input possible, jumping at the right moments, a job which Jack N' Jill DX doesn't always get right and some inconsistencies regarding the control input can make for some frustrating moments during gameplay but overall, this is a welcoming, fun and unpretentious game. Pity for its occasional control flaws and unpleasant soundtrack.

9 / 10 - Astral Chain
Aug 26, 2019

Astral Chain may be a game that combines action and RPG elements in an excellent way but merely stating this would be a serious understatement. Nearly everything in Astral Chain drips with quality, labour and dedication, from its intense and frantic combats to the exquisite art style and wonderful soundtrack, this is without any doubt the finest new IP to reach the Nintendo Switch and another reminder of why Platinum Games deserves all the praise it can get.

8 / 10 - PAWARUMI
Aug 12, 2019

Pawarumi lands in a busy field amidst any 2D shoot'em ups on the Nintendo Switch catalogue but it does a very good job at standing out. Thanks to its 'rock, paper, scissors' system which makes the gameplay more involving and challenging, Pawarumi is also a game with a strong personality and it's certain to appeal to fans of 2D shooters.

Tiny Metal: Full Metal Rumble is a turn-based strategy game for the Nintendo Switch that follows its predecessor from two years ago and which improves on pretty much every aspect possible. With its in-depth offer of strategic gameplay options, large amount of content and very strong technical execution, Full Metal Rumble is a marvel of a game that also acts as a tribute to the games that inspired it.
