Vroom in the Night Sky is the epitome of a rushed launch title, a game that offers so little content that after just a few minutes you'll have seen just about everything it has to offer.

I came for the appealing art style with the hopes of finding a competent 2D platformer, but ultimately that failed to happen. This already short game doesn't offer up enough variety to keep it engaging for very long and some mechanical issues only further dampened the experience. Couple all that with very limited replayability and what you're left with is a forgettable game.

5 / 10.0 - Poly Bridge
Dec 20, 2017

With all the building blocks in place, it seems like we'd have a great physics based puzzle game that allows freedom and creativity on our hands. However a rushed port with horrendous controls and a game altering bug turn this into an utterly frustrating experience on the Switch. It's almost impossible to recommend in its current state, but with promised patches coming, all hope might not be lost. Keep your eyes out for our thoughts on future patches/updates as they release.

5 / 10.0 - Lifeless Planet
Sep 3, 2018

Unfortunately, doing so often feels more like a chore than a joy. The platforming here feels ancient The planet itself, while absolutely capturing the essence of it decaying, comes off as uninteresting to explore. Add in some monotonous puzzles, and what you're left with is a rather forgettable experience.

Sunless Sea has a really great atmosphere that should be ripe for exploring, but unfortunately it falls flat when it comes to core gameplay elements. Story bits are slow to develop and failed to hook me, while the act of sailing itself is mundane. That’s not to say it’s devoid of good ideas, but it’ll take someone who doesn’t mind a slow burn to fully enjoy.

5.5 / 10.0 - oOo: Ascension
Oct 16, 2018

Unfortunately oOo: Ascension falls into the category of ramping it up to the point that it drains the fun out of some clever level design. Early stages hit a nice balance of tough but rewarding, however later stages stack too many different ideas to the point of being downright infuriating. I'm sure there are some masochists out there that will find enjoyment in the brutal difficulty, but those looking for a more approachable challenge, you may want to look elsewhere.

Urban Trial Playground does a few interesting things, but they're overshadowed and ultimately held back by a number of factors. While I found the scored-based levels that relied on tricks to be more fun than the racing sections, gameplay is just not deep enough to be engaging for more than a short period of time. Couple that with the somewhat frequent software crashes and it's easy to see how this ends up becoming a forgettable experience.

I thought Super Blackjack Battle II Turbo Edition - The Card Warriors had the potential to spice things up to add longevity, but sadly it failed to do so. With poor AI and no online play, the only truly redeeming factor are the visuals and superb soundtrack. However that just isn't enough to keep your attention for more than a few hands.

Dragon Marked for Death is a frustrating experience because there are some good ideas buried behind some poor decisions.

Offering a rather robust challenge mode, a score attack, and local multiplayer, there was more to this little game than I could have imagined. Unfortunately the simple game mechanics and repetitiveness start to run thin sooner rather than later. This is one you'll end up putting down way before you see everything it has to offer.

6 / 10.0 - De Mambo
Jul 13, 2017

No online play, bland levels and not enough of a hook to keep me coming back for more is unfortunately what stands out the most. That's not to say there isn't a place for this game if you have access to a group of friends who can regularly meet up and want a bite sized party game. It does enough right that makes it worth checking out in the right circumstances, just don't expect to play hours on end.

The game is extremely charming, but ultimately, the gameplay is paper thin. That's only compounded by the fact you'll be replaying many of the mini games multiple times or similar versions with small tweaks. The game does offer a ton of recipes, easily offering up hours of content for those willing to grind through the mini games, but with little incentive outside of an arbitrary score and medal, it quickly becomes a daunting task.

It introduced some unique and interesting ideas while leaving other areas unpolished, resulting in a middling game. It's hard to ignore how awesome the Armor system is, but it's a shame that uninspired level design and some weird design decisions ultimately hold it back from being great. If you're a fan of shoot-em-up games, you'll likely be able to find enjoyment in here, but if you're a casual fan just looking to jump in and play, it might be best to think twice.

The character design is strong and piecing together odd insults has a sense of charm that many wish it had. However limited dialogue options and even fewer scenarios leave much to be desired from a longevity aspect. There is fun to be had especially in a local multiplayer setting, but it still does little to make this more than a paper thin experience.

6 / 10.0 - Back to Bed

While the game stands tall from a presentation aspect, where it lacks most is in the act of playing it. Puzzles offer some clever ideas, but they never truly explore how far each idea could be pushed which results in a simple game that never challenges the player. This might appeal to a casual puzzle fan, but it certainly won’t scratch the itch for veterans of the genre.

6.5 / 10.0 - SubaraCity

A relaxed and casual take on the classic block-matching genre, there's a level of charm I found to be enduring with its simplistic nature and easy to grasp gameplay. There is a level of strategy needed, as just one or two wrong moves can sink an otherwise promising run. Unfortunately though, with just the single game mode there's a good chance the legs fall out from underneath it sooner rather than later.

For those who have a dedicated group to play with online there are hours worth of fun to be had overcoming the more difficult challenges. However, If you'll need to rely on random players the fun can only go so far without any form of communication. And if playing solo is your only option, I'd highly suggest thinking twice because quite frankly playing alone is not very much fun at all.
