Dauntless is a marvellous co-op action RPG wrapped into a wonderful and fun monster hunting game. It's an excellent F2P choice for casual gamers and hardcore hunters alike. It's also one of the few games that console only owners can cooperatively play alongside their PC-centric friends! Phoenix Labs has set a new standard for cross-play that we hope other developers will one day also embrace! Bottom line this game is monstrously fun!
Though Trover Saves The Universe is a short playthrough, clocking in around six hours, it's still worth taking a stab at it. The 3D control aspect is refreshing and the dialogue is hilarious (assuming you're not easily offended). Gameplay was fun and finding all those Power Babies is a reward in itself. Trover Saves The Universe is definitely a comedy adventure game that is fit to sit on the shelf with those other iconic titles in the genre!
We. The Revolution is a unique take on a historical time from the perspective of someone who has power. The game has a lot of strategies at your control as you need to decide what kind of "man" you want to be.
Quantic Dream proves that even a six-year-old game can be full of new life on a converted gaming platform. Beyond: Two Souls on the PC is a beautiful, engaging story about a special child with a special connection.
Etherborn is a short and sweet platform-like puzzler game. It features surreal, artistic graphics, beautiful music, "ethereal" controls and is in itself quite unique. The downside is the game can be completed in three to five hours
While the original base game has been expanded to five chapters die-hard puzzlers should have no issue completing this game in 5-10 hours. Though somewhat short the game is priced right on Steam for $9.99 USD. Even so, the puzzles are great fodder for your brain. The whole game seems like a mash-up of Myst interlaced with moments from Archer (TV series) with the classic style of the "No One Lives Forever" video games. Sadly this looks like the final chapter for Agent A but if Yak & Co decide to extend the adventures of Ruby La Rouge we'll be the first in line to buy it!
Be warned Vambrace: Cold Soul starts out challenging. If you realize what you're getting yourself into, and go in expecting that you'll die quite a bit early on, then your persistence will lead to a fun, visually beautiful and rewarding experience.
Niffelheim is a strong showing by an indie game company. It's survival mechanics might feel a bit too familiar without adding much new. Initially, it'll take quite a while to feel productive as the resource grind is a bit real. 2D might be appealing to some or might be a turn-off for veteran players coming from a lot of the 1st and 3rd person survival games out there.
Fracter is a dark yet hauntingly refreshing puzzle game. The game is short in story and length but priced fairly to match. Each of the levels was relatively complex and contained unique and fun brain teasers without causing one to become frustratingly mad. Any puzzle fanatic looking for a "quick fix" should add this one to their "wish list"!
Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns for the Nintendo Switch is a perfect match for the Switch's "get up and go" philosophy. While the core of the gameplay is still the time-honoured design of matching 3 tile,s Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns manages to add enough RPG elements to keep it fresh board by board. If your a "match 3" fan and enjoy fantasy settings then this one must go on your "want list"!
Bottom line, Green Hell still comes across as a refreshing survival game. The difficulty level of the game will have many players screaming "bloody green hell". Initially, patience is key and learning as you go. If you do decide to stick with it you'll be treated to a rewarding experience.
While the hunt for items might be a bit much for some, those that persevere will be treated with a wonderful tale that the developers say is inspired by 60s and 70s fantasy films!
The Tiny Bang Story is a puzzle game that is short in duration, light on a story but has some delightful puzzles. The biggest complaint is the excessive item hunting in some cases, especially in undocked mode. And with a finicky touch control system, it might not be the best puzzle game for "on the go" fun.
WARSAW is a deep tactical RPG with plenty of historical content. The game has a higher than normal difficulty level that makes winning even more rewarding. The rogue-like nature of the game also makes you consider your choices. You'll become so entrenched in the story and your resistance squad that losses will leave a mark.
There's no denying that Planescape: Torment and Icewind Dale are classic AD&D RPGs in all their glory. Don't stop here if you're looking for remasters. If you're looking to play these classics for the first time or want to enjoy these adventures on the bus ride home then welcome back! Even after 20 years these games still hold some magic and these Enhanced Editions on the Nintendo Switch are faithful and competent ports!
Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch is a strong entry in the Switch's Action RPG category. The game is full of beautiful, vibrant comic book-like artwork all woven into an entertaining, well-acted mythological story. Responsive controls and top-notch playability in undocked mode make this game a strong buy! The next question that comes to mind is when will Darksiders III be released on the Nintendo Switch?
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition might, at first glance, come off as a Pokémon copycat but don't be fooled. This game has a lot to offer on its own. It meshes the real world and digital worlds together all while providing its own unique creature capture system. THIS is the game Pokémon fans should be playing while they wait for Pokémon Sword & Shield to arrive!
While we've only seen one episode, Song Of Horror has all the components of a strong horror adventure game rivalling those that many of us grew up with. Its puzzles won't wear you down with frustration and the horror environments are sure to deliver a scare.
Doraemon: Story Of Seasons meshes manga pop culture into a well-established farming simulation environment. Many gamers might have a challenge getting through the lengthy tutorial or might be lulled by the slow and sometimes repetitive pace. Manga fans will enjoy and appreciate the "cut scenes" and artwork used to convey the story and dialogue. The game does offer a lot of things to do in short sessions which should be a boon to "gamers on the go". Doraemon: Story Of Seasons might just be the perfect companion for daily train or bus travellers!
Thief Of Thieves: Season One almost seems like a game of many faces. Is it a stealth game, or a point-and-click adventure game or the next Telltale Games' successor? There's no fault in trying to be all three things. Unfortunately, this Nintendo Switch port created some flaws that make total enjoyment difficult. The biggest being the blurry graphics, especially when docked and played on a monitor. Nevertheless, avid comic book fans will find the motivation to push ahead just to see the lovely comic book art and hear these loved characters given form by some great voice acting!
