7 / 10 - Yooka Laylee
Feb 26, 2018

Yooka-Laylee is a tribute to 3D platforming games, especially to those that involve collecting a lot of things. It succeeds at that job, as it will certainly invade some players with overwhelming feelings of nostalgia. It doesn't quite do the job of creating a platformer that would be up to the highest standards of today, as it's demonstrated by some frustrating sections, camera issues and a combat system that is far from being exciting but overall, Yooka-Laylee is a pleasure to explore and it's full of delightful details.

6 / 10 - InnerSpace
Mar 25, 2018

InnerSpace features overall interesting aesthetics and the variety of the vehicles presented is certainly something to keep in mind. Where it doesn't stand out, though, is on its lack of guidance, which can cause some frustrating moments for the players and more variety when it comes to the puzzles would be very much appreciated. As it is, InnerSpace leaves the feeling that its execution is below expected.

Castle of Heart is a good example on why one shouldn't judge a book by its cover: while its visuals look rather appealing, the game's experience quickly becomes an ordeal once the gameplay begins. Due to poor level design, controls that feel very clunky (though in line with the game's premise) and a difficulty level that is frustrating but not challenging, Castle of Heart missed a good opportunity to be an enjoyable experience.

Owlboy brings an absolutely amazing visual environment to the Nintendo Switch, along with an exquisite soundtrack and an involving plot. Mercenaries Saga Chronicles consists of three games of the tactical RPG series brought together for the Nintendo Switch. If the gameplay is polished enough to allow for a fun experience and the variety of options for the characters is very much welcome, the game could also go much further when it comes to introducing new elements, of which there are very few, and to make its plot more interesting and compelling to the players.

Featuring a character-creation tool that will keep player amused for long, an outstanding sense of humour and a multiplayer mode that will extend its lifespan, Death Road to Canada is a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue and is easily one of the best indie games available on Nintendo's console.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch builds up on the Wii U game and adds new maps and characters that certainly make this a worthy purchase, even if it does not bring anything groundbreaking for those who know the original. Not everything goes according to the plan, however, and there are some issues concerning the frame rate when played on handheld and which should have been fixed with a more tailored option.

The Banner Saga is a unique tactical game that stands out among its peers thanks to its art style and visuals, as well as to its very challenging combat system. Were this game longer and with a more elaborate plot, it could very well be one of the finest in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Shantae's arrival to the Nintendo Switch does not happen with an original game but rather with a direct port of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse. Nothing here is new other than the HD Rumble feature...but there is absolutely nothing to complain about, the game is as marvelous as it was and its superb visuals, level design and gameplay mechanics represent some of the very best to be found in the Metroidvania style.

Octopath Traveler tick all the boxes when it comes to recreate the formula of classic RPGs. Thanks to its use of individual story lines, which seems inspired by other iconic games of the same style, and to its marvelous visuals and amazing soundtrack, Octopath Traveler will set the players into an exploration effort that may take its time to fully take off, but will reward its players handsomely.

Shantae Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is, like its name says, the ultimate edition of Half-Genie Hero, which now makes it to the Nintendo Switch with additional content that provides some new and varied mechanics, even if there is also a lot of recycled content. Those who did not have a chance to play the original will feel fully satisfied with this release.

Devious Dungeon thus ends up being a very unremarkable game without any features that could keep the players interested for more than a few minutes.

This game that promises to be the ultimate version of the previous Code of Princess does not fully respond to expectations, especially as far as the quality of the visual environment is concerned but despite that, the variety of characters and movements involved is still something to be happy about.

The Lost Child is clearly inspired by several popular series from different genres and it does a decent job at that, featuring elements that will be easily identified by the players. Where it does not do so well is on delivering a good performance and capturing the player's attention, as this is a game that has problems with standing out, aggravated by its rather poor presentation, which ends up reinforcing how The Lost Child does not manage to be a compelling and engaging experience.

8 / 10 - Joggernauts
Oct 12, 2018

Joggernauts may feel different than most games but that should not draw attentions away from the simple fact that this is a fun and challenging game that will make its players grow fond of it. Being even more addictive in multiplayer, Joggernauts allows a fun-for-all fest with four players, making it a good bet for anyone looking for some familiar chaotic fun.

7 / 10 - Gal Metal
Nov 18, 2018

Gal Metal features an unconventional gameplay which ends up fitting quite well with a game that has such an unconventional premise. Against it, Gal Metal has a limited repertoire of songs and does not offer a lot of incentives to return to it once finished but this is an original effort which stands out in the growing catalogue of the Nintendo Switch.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs - Royal Edition has an involving plot with plenty of humour that will keep the players well entertained. It doesn't fully live up to its potential when it comes to the combat system, which is far from accessible, and its loading times are way too long, which maks this a game that will not find its place next to everyone.
