Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is part of the Mysterious Trilogy and it's not difficult to see why it's the best game in the series thanks to the improvements that help shape it into a more modern experience while keeping the spirit of the formula intact. A wide and varied world to explore and with very addictive ways to do so, an engaging and dynamic combat system, and an overall refined experience that makes this a memorable game and a very welcome addition to the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is pretty much everything a Monster Hunter Rise player could ask for, with its array of improvements and additions big and small which go from new monsters, new characters, new abilities for the weapons, as well as the Master Rank, the Switch Skills and other elements that players will be delighted to discover. Truly an unmissable expansion that does wonders for an already excellent game.

Faithful to the original game where it should be, renewed where it can make a difference, using a 3D world compared to the 2D original and a new, more relaxed game mode, but keeping the mechanics intact and as close to the source as possible. Not only will this remake be heartwarming material for fans of the Atelier series, it will be a charming welcome for newcomers as well.

8 / 10 - Moving Out 2
Sep 14, 2023

With a simple but very engaging concept, Moving Out 2 will put players finding the best ways to move objects inside and outside people's houses with a lot of learning involved when it comes to coordination and keeping within the time limit. The game is especially outstanding on local multiplayer, where hours of unbridled fun between friends are assured, thanks to the accessible but demanding controls. A true gem of fun and hilarity that more than deserves its place in players' hands.

The Banner Saga is a unique tactical game that stands out among its peers thanks to its art style and visuals, as well as to its very challenging combat system. Were this game longer and with a more elaborate plot, it could very well be one of the finest in the Nintendo Switch catalogue.

7 / 10 - Yooka Laylee
Feb 26, 2018

Yooka-Laylee is a tribute to 3D platforming games, especially to those that involve collecting a lot of things. It succeeds at that job, as it will certainly invade some players with overwhelming feelings of nostalgia. It doesn't quite do the job of creating a platformer that would be up to the highest standards of today, as it's demonstrated by some frustrating sections, camera issues and a combat system that is far from being exciting but overall, Yooka-Laylee is a pleasure to explore and it's full of delightful details.

Fire Emblem Warriors has plenty to offer the players: an enormous amount of content and characters, especially among its post-campaign unlockables, a magnificent soundtrack and a fitting adaptation of the Fire Emblem series. While it is very competent at what it does, Fire Emblem Warriors could certainly use some of Nintendo's 'quality over quantity', as it feels like the characters could benefit from some variety but this is still a very competent and enjoyable proposal.

INVERSUS Deluxe has the right conditions for a fun time, whether solo or multiplayer but with an added appeal on local multiplayer, with several friends around the same Nintendo Switch. The game's rewards can be disappointing for those expecting more but overall Inversus is worthy of the players' efforts and it's simple enough to get into in a quick amount of time.

7 / 10 - Floor Kids
Feb 17, 2018

Floor Kids has what a good rhythm game should have: a good gameplay mechanic, with fluid action and a soundtrack that fits perfectly with the game. Pity that its visual environment and art style are completely out of touch with the rest of the game and look very much sub par in what is, otherwise, an enjoyable experience.

7 / 10 - Q.U.B.E. 2
Apr 16, 2019

Q.U.B.E. 2 is an interesting and captivating first-person puzzle game which is more than likely to capture the players' attention thanks to its interesting and appealing puzzles. If the way the puzzles are approached and the game's visuals are something worthy of praise, it is also true that Q.U.B.E. 2 exhibits some technical issues when it comes to its framerate though this is not a problem that will pose significant obstacles to the experience.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch builds up on the Wii U game and adds new maps and characters that certainly make this a worthy purchase, even if it does not bring anything groundbreaking for those who know the original. Not everything goes according to the plan, however, and there are some issues concerning the frame rate when played on handheld and which should have been fixed with a more tailored option.

Shantae Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition is, like its name says, the ultimate edition of Half-Genie Hero, which now makes it to the Nintendo Switch with additional content that provides some new and varied mechanics, even if there is also a lot of recycled content. Those who did not have a chance to play the original will feel fully satisfied with this release.

Blade Strangers may not look like the most obvious crossover when it features characters from series that few would ever imagine starring in the same game but life is full of surprises and this fighting experience not only brings a varied cast, it also has some very simple gameplay and control mechanics that make the game accessible to nearly everyone, while also thinking that its 3D rendering could use some improvement.

7 / 10 - Gal Metal
Nov 18, 2018

Gal Metal features an unconventional gameplay which ends up fitting quite well with a game that has such an unconventional premise. Against it, Gal Metal has a limited repertoire of songs and does not offer a lot of incentives to return to it once finished but this is an original effort which stands out in the growing catalogue of the Nintendo Switch.

The Last Remnant Remastered brings back a game from the previous decade with its positive points, such as its excellent combat system and soundtrack but also some flaws of its days such as a rather lifeless world and a bland plot. Nevertheless The Last Remnant Remastered for the Nintendo Switch is an interesting work and worth picking up by its original players and newcomers to the game.

Atelier Rorona is an RPG that does not necessarily follow the footsteps of its most famous peers but it's certainly not forced to in order to deliver a fun, entertaining and enjoyable experience. Thanks to its emphasis on a system that allows the creation and concoction of new items, this game demonstrates it's not necessary to have an epic and overwhelming story to deliver an interesting and compelling RPG.

Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists adds a city simulation component to the Atelier series and brings a wealth of interaction between the series' characters, which will be thoroughly enjoyed by Atelier fans. It doesn't break any significant grounds and some of its goals feel repetitive in a short time but its mechanics are simple to learn and the game's wide variety of characters will be certainly welcomed by anyone who enjoys the series.

7 / 10 - Oninaki
Sep 10, 2019

While the combat initially feels flawed it ends up growing with the player, and the variety of customization options stands out in the best way. All in all, ONINAKI is an interesting effort with a good lifespan that deserves a close look.

The Banner Saga 3 brings with it an exquisite plot and a series of different outcomes that depend on the player's choices but while the game is very strong on the story component, its combat system is rather simple and there's few significant improvements that make this a groundbreaking game. Overall, it's an experience that will be enjoyed at a much greater level by longtime fans of this saga than by beginners.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk DX begins another trilogy of the Atelier series to the Nintendo Switch and this improved version definitely features a good plot and a very developed game world. Alas, it's also afflicted by some performance issues which should have been solved by now and its last moments fail to captivate but the return of Atelier's Dusk trilogy is off to a good start on the Switch.
