This review is already one of my longer ones but I can't help rambling about this game and how annoying it is to see such a wasted opportunity.
The sad part is that I haven't seen anyone else even mention the game, so I guess it's partially up to me to spread the word now.
I would never have thought I'd actually end up caring for our two little heroes, or even the glitch character they often run into.
Every play is familiar but somehow still feels like a fresh and profoundly pensive challenge.
This simple set of manoeuvres is full of nuance, allowing for incredible plays and some serious mind-games, making it more like a fighting game than anything else.
And this is what I was referring to right at the beginning.
Though I have no doubt anybody who likes cards, poker, video games, or joy will have a great time with it, I feel I should also note that it does wear itself out significantly faster than most of its brethren.
Quite the double-edged sword I'd say.
There is a lot on offer from Deathtrap and although much of it feels used, it certainly feels nice to just slip into that safe zone and simply just enjoy what you have in front of you.
Reading back over this I feel I've been a little too harsh on Klaus, it is an entertaining game; it's a good game.
So the gameplay presents this strange oxymoron of being pretty easy, but still unfairly difficult because of the random element, which is never a nice way to add a challenge, but maybe that's the message all along – life isn't fair.
The game is seriously addicting thanks to the gratifying mechanics and simple, fun premise that it's built on. I can see myself jumping online almost daily to claw my way through the ranks but I do worry that the long wait times for matches will only get worse if High Horse Entertainment don't manage to pull in some more players. I wish them all the best and hope to see Disc Jam continue to be supported by them for the foreseeable future.
All of these little pieces come together to form something completely new and intense; I hope to see a lot more like it in the future.
That's pretty much Fallen Legion in a nutshell – it has its fair share of ups and downs but I still really enjoyed my time with it.
Even with these nicks it's nethertheless a lovely cooperative experience that seems to be perfect for right now, as we're all trapped in our little pockets of the world.
It's fair to say Battle for Bikini Bottom was hardly a revelation back in 2003 and it's definitely not one now, even with the cult popularity the original has gained due to the speedrunning community.
Can I recommend Death Stranding? Not really.
They do mostly stick to the same formula, sadly, with AWE throwing in a couple of new light-based elements I would have liked to have seen more of, especially in combat(!), but once again both of them managed to compel me all the way through; mostly out of sheer curiosity and love of the world and its enigmas. I would really like to see more of this universe in the future and I think Remedy could get super creative with regards to upping the ante around the action. There’s the potential for a total game changer here and, after all, there are plenty more doors to discover in the Motel *wink wink*.
