Scorn is a horror/adventure game filled with grotesque depictions of rot, gore and terror. It instills a sense of foreboding dread extremely well with its abstruse, minimal storytelling. This isn’t a game for the faint of heart or stomach, though.

Splitgate, a free-to-play Halo-meets-Portal arena shooter, reminds me of the good old days of first-person shooter games. It’s a fun, tactical experience with a high skill ceiling.

Vampire: The Masquerade — Swansong is a narrative, investigative RPG centered around three vampires in Boston. While the writing and quests are enjoyable, the visuals leave much to be desired. Swansong loses a lot of its charm with its jarring graphics.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a fun and whimsical adventure through a strange land. You play as the eponymous Kirby, the lovable pink puffball. He has his old skills of swallowing and copying enemies' powers, but now he has a new trick.

The Witch Queen fundamentally changes a lot of Destiny 2. There's weapon crafting, a new area to explore, a new raid coming, tons of weapons to grind for, and plenty of sandbox changes that shake everything up. But the writing isn't on par with some previous expansions.

3.5 / 5 stars - Lost Ark

Lost Ark is a Korean MMO action RPG, in the vein of Diablo or Path of Exile. It features a beautiful world and engaging gameplay, but it's held back by clunky animations, mediocre voice acting and an unoriginal story.

3.5 / 5 stars - Naraka: Bladepoint
Aug 20, 2021

Naraka: Bladepoint is a fun 60-player battle royale. Unlike many other games in the genre, it focuses on melee combat and parkour-style movement. It's a punishing game, rewarding skill, preparation, and mastery of its core mechanics. Though fun, it quickly grows stale.

4 / 5 stars - Eldest Souls
Jul 29, 2021

Eldest Souls is not a game for the faint of heart. It is a brutal boss rush challenge that will push you to your limit. But its "one more try" hook is seriously addicting.

Scarlet Nexus is yet another great game from Bandai Namco Studios. Its satisfying combat keeps things interesting, even in the early parts of the story when the plot feels dry. You're in for a great ride with Scarlet Nexus.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition brings the original trilogy into one package, with plenty of updates and improvements for each game, especially the original Mass Effect. It's a great way to experience the story again, or play it for the first time.

4 / 5 stars - Outriders
Apr 7, 2021

Outriders takes what previous looter-shooters have done well and adds its own RPG flair. The result is a game with a good story, fun gunplay and a staggering amount of build diversity.

While a visually beautiful game that checks all of the grungy, neon-bathed cyberpunk boxes, Conglomerate 451 fails to leave a lasting impression after the first couple of hours. The premise is interesting, the gameplay is fairly average, but something is missing.

While it lacks the visual flair and storytelling of genre hits like Hollow Knight, Kunai is undoubtedly among my list of top games for 2020. It's polished, it's funny, and best of all, it's a great time for hours on end.

Though a fun concept and quite enjoyable in the opening hours, MechWarrior 5 suffers from really repetitive gameplay, sharp difficulty spikes without warning, and bad writing.

BioWare’s new loot shooter is fun at times, but ultimately underwhelms with its tedium and lack of depth

If you’re on PC, Xbox, or PS4, then I think the Dark Souls experience is better on those platforms. Sure, the novelty of playing this game on the go or what not is great, but it quickly wore off for me — I’d rather have a more consistent gameplay/mechanical experience.
