Half-sequel, half-reboot. The return of Kratos comes with a new sidekick, in a new setting, in a new generation and with a new perspective. It’s one of the riskiest reboots in recent history for an high caliber franchise, full of ambition, that sets a new standard in narrative and action games. Nintendo Switch received the definitive Super Smash Bros. experience. Ultimate it’s quite literally the final form of this franchise with every character, every level and with deep mechanics, striking visuals, an absurd amount of game modes and all the fun of the previous games. Devil May Cry 5 looks, plays and sounds as pitch-perfect as its bombastic soundtrack. It nails pretty much everything in every department. The combat is super satisfying, with a deep list of skills, abilities and attacks; the story is cheesy but engaging and full of twists; and it is one of the most visually impressive games of this year so far.

It is, without surprises, survival horror in its pure state. The remake of Resident Evil 2 is everything the fans would hope for a current-gen RE. It takes all the core concepts of the original and twists them with a new fresh take and some mechanics from the also excellent Resident Evil 7.
