The games included in this offer are mostly on par with what players can expect from good, classic shoot'em up types, other than one of them which suffers from a poor performance. With its good retail price and an overall quality action gameplay, this is a fun proposal for fans of old school shoot'em up games.

Super Crush KO goes all in when it comes to its frantic and action-packed combat, which coupled with its bright and intense colours make this a visibly intense and fun experience. It never goes very much in-depth, though, and with repetitive bosses and the lack of extra content the game ends up feeling rather limited but it's undeniably a very fun effort for anyone who enjoys fun and explosive action.

Thanks to its well executed balance between a hack and slash and an RPG, as well as its system of skills, the relationship between the two main characters and its very compelling combat, there's more than enough here to satisfy those who gravitate to these kinds of games. While not all is perfect when it comes to its less than ideal performance on the Switch screen, Darksiders Genesis has proved itself worthy for everyone to try it out.

Featuring a marvelous vocal work, a fun and humorous plot and two distinct control systems, The Fowl Fleet could improve its unbalanced difficulty in some puzzles and feature some more engaging missions but let there be no doubt that the point and click adventure genre is alive and well on the Switch.

A good mix between exploration with roguelike elements, and turn-based RPG when it comes to combat, the game allows for a great degree of character customization and a good level of freedom. At the same time, some decisions are difficult to understand, such as the consumption of resources, some lack of orientation and too much information on the screen at once. Dedicated players will find a lot to enjoy here, but there's a certain effort to make.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends marks the arrival of the famed series on the Nintendo Switch and as the title promises, this is indeed a feast for up to four friends in what is easily one of the game's best selling points. Along with a simple and addictive gameplay and a joyfully colourful visual environment, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is irresistible to pick up, even though it could feature more content and a less repetitive soundtrack.

7 / 10 - La-Mulana
Apr 22, 2020

La-Mulana may not be for everyone but this Metroidvania-style game is rich in challenging puzzles and bosses, with an interesting plot and a very welcoming audiovisual environment. Its puzzles might not be the most accessible ones, but those willing to put some effort and patience into this work will be duly rewarded with a marvelous piece of gaming on the Nintendo Switch.

While certainly not as content-full or complex as more recent works, its simple gameplay is extremely fun and the local multiplayer mode will be thoroughly appreciated. It could be even better if an online multiplayer component had been added.

7 / 10 - Liberated
Jun 8, 2020

Liberated on the Nintendo Switch assumes the form of an interactive comic book that uses a noir aesthetic and a very dystopian plot to put the player in the middle of a sombre, disquieting and genuinely frightening experience. Its technical issues and quick time events are the game's Achilles' Heel but the plot, visual outlook and accessibility, which even allows the player to treat it as if it was purely a comic book, make this a very interesting choice for Nintendo Switch owners.

In the same way that "Daniel Aço'zinho" took a delirious twenty-second beating or how the Mortal Queen user suffered with an accidental ambulance in his trunks, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R delivers worthy moments during one-page fights from Araki's works, always keeping the fighting video game context in mind. Not only does it come across as a product that breathes and exudes fanservice; the ultimate package for fans of the property, but also as an extremely competent and inviting fighter for novices (to a certain extent) without ever forgetting those who demand a greater challenge. I admit that All Star Battle R lacks rollback netcode, a robust story or a greater variety in offline modes, but it makes up for it in so many other areas that I only have one last suggestion: if you are not yet a fan of the franchise then it's time to give the anime and/or manga a chance, convert and try this title as a celebration of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the most bizarre Japanese adventure ever.

While the change from 2D to 3D graphics was not to everyone's liking, for fans Disgaea 6 Complete represents that favorite dish you always order at the same restaurant, now with a slightly different flavor. Even with some modifications to (at least) get newcomers to complete the main story, those who are not fans of the property will most likely not be converted. It is, however, still a good video game and a good experience for those who enjoy tactical RPGs.

THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD: Remake is an excellent remake in the true sense of the word. It falls short in some corners such as longevity, new content or even the lack of a proprietary online mode, making it hard to justify the asking price at launch. It is, however, still a fun experience with the frantic pace at which the levels progress and the new unlockable weapons. Given the simplicity of the title and how faithful it is to the arcade experience, you need to set your expectations correctly before hitting the buy button.

The more I played and was captivated by Triangle Strategy's storyline, the more I understood that its excellent overarching story was changing my review. It is very easy to get carried away by what is good and close our eyes to everything else, but the truth is that the latest Square-Enix title has some problems: some poorly developed characters, little content outside the main story, imbalance between exposition and action, among others mentioned in the review. It's not all bad, though, because it's an entertaining tactical RPG to a certain extent, even more so after starting New Game Plus with all the other routes unexplored; most of the systems in question also work well for what they are. It's a solid recommendation to make for any lover of the genre, I just hope they have a strategy in place to combat the long dialogue sessions.

6 / 10 - Niffelheim
Oct 9, 2019

Niffelheim's experience is one of 2D action and survival with RPG elements, though it doesn't quite succeed in all of them. There's a remarkable lack of customization choices, the combat is too simplistic and the difficulty level peaks suddenly but that doesn't mean Niffelheim doesn't do a good job on its survival angle, as well as on its art style and use of mythology in its lore and plot.

Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment land on the Nintendo Switch after their original premiere many years ago. It's always good to see relevant titles getting re-released on the Switch, in this case there are elements which still stand very well, such as the plot, the customization level and the huge amount of content. On the other hand, visually these games have not aged very well and the experience is not very well suited for newcomers or for a handheld format.

Corpse Party: Blood Drive is a visual novel that gets two crucial points right: its plot and its high quality writing. Quite the saviours, as the gameplay experience ends up getting harmed by a lack of player guidance and the use of 3D models feels entirely out of place of the game's theme. Nevertheless, those looking for an engaging plot and a detailed, descriptive writing that will keep the player focused for long hours have a good option in the form of Corpse Party: Blood Drive for the Nintendo Switch.

6 / 10 - Demon Pit
Jan 9, 2020

Demon Pit for the Nintendo Switch does a good job at being a simple, 1990s-based shooter. With its unpretentious but intense action moments, Demon Pit will strike a chord with those looking to relive simpler times. That said and given today's technology, the experience could only improve if this version allowed the use of motion-controls when it comes to aiming, the same goes for its default auto-aiming function, which cannot be switched off.

Super Weekend Mode is a very simple game. Its sole purpose is to entertain and for that, it ditches things like plot or character development. If it's true that a good plot and involvement with the characters can make a masterpiece, it's no less true that not all games need them, and Super Weekend Mode, in its extreme simplicity, is an enjoyable game, even if not an in-depth experience.

Galaxy Champions TV is a twin stick shoot'em-up that follows the genre's classic conventions. With its fun gameplay and very well tuned controls, the game creates a good territory for itself on the Nintendo Switch. However, its difficulty level soars too quickly and without much balance, as Galaxy Champions TV becomes an almost merciless experience with barely an introduction, thus making the game rely too much on its frustrating elements for longevity's sake.

6 / 10 - Bear With Me
Feb 21, 2020

Bear With Me for the Nintendo Switch is a point and click adventure based on a detective investigation story and it does a good job at presenting a strong, emotional story with a very humorous overtone and a remarkable art style. Nonetheless, the fluctuating difficulty of its puzzles, the mediocre voice work and some problems with finding objects due to the very same art style end up feeling like obstacles. Fans of point and click games will be able to look beyond this, other players might feel less tempted.
