The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone knows exactly what it intends and how to make it work. With a story typical of the good old days of animation, charismatic protagonists and simple and effective mechanics, it is a light and fun game, as long as you don't expect more than it set out to offer.

After about 7 hours of playing you will have reached the end of the game and actually after about 2 hours you will notice that the monotony and flat gameplay starts to seem quite the same. The level design is quite nice here and there, but you are actually constantly jumping, dashing and shooting. The latter in particular starts to get really annoying at a certain point. Do not get me wrong; The Smurfs 2 is certainly not a bad game, and may be quite challenging for real young people to master, but otherwise it plays well and doesn't do anything terribly wrong.

The family-friendly retro license once again defies the trend of terrible adaptations with a workable adventure

Incredibly dull combat is enough to make The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone a clear step down from Mission Vileaf. You could do a lot worse, for sure, but its predecessor shows you can definitely do better, too.

The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone continues the excellent job of the previous game, with a creative narrative, new skills and an excellent alternation between the fun adventure and harder challenges. The perfect combination for those who love the blue creatures and 3D platformers.
