Indie-games are known for being highly original, creative ideas—well the majority of them at least. At times, some indie developers just prefer to take an existing concept and put their own spin on things; and hey, there's nothing wrong with that. There are some indie games that actually end up being better than the classics that they're molded from, while still giving retro gamers that sweet rush of nostalgia.

While FreezeME has all the makings of a great 3D platformer (after all, it is following in Mario's footsteps) there's something about it that just doesn't feel right. There's something off-beat about the game. It could be the iffy controls, which aren't as responsive and tight as the Mario games from which it's inspired. It seems harsh but Freeze Me is ironically dull, repetitive beyond repute, as well as clunky in both camera movement and basic character manoeuvring. I genuinely hope that the Barcelona-based developer takes the criticism onboard to go back to the drawing board with simple, satisfying gameplay. For now, there's little to recommend.
