Critic Reviews for Rising Islands

There is a very interesting game to be found in Rising Islands, but it simply failed to fully realize itself. Speedrunners and fans of fast-paced games might enjoy this, but I’d advise everyone else to try the game’s free demo before purchasing in order to determine whether it is worth your money.

I really wanted to love this game, I really did. They have some really great concepts with fun gameplay, but it's obvious this game just isn't quite complete. I really wish the developers had spent a little more time with Rising Islands. This game could have really become something great, and that's the biggest disappointment of all.

Inevitably, Rising Islands can be identified quite easily as a title riddled with far too many lack-luster components and even its core gameplay can’t prevent it from feeling both under-baked and underdeveloped.

Rising Islands has an Identity Crisis that leaves it unable to function nearly as well as it should.

Rising Islands may be appropriate for the small audience craving reflex driven platformers, but it barely fits in this respect. The game is just littered with too many flaws, and players have to dig out the fun. Add this with some marred graphical issues, and you have a playable, but far from fun color adventure.

Rising Islands definitely does not overstay it's welcome though, as my final play time clocked in at just shy of two hours. And at a price of only $9.99, it's worth checking out to see the dimensional and wall running mechanics. I am interested to see what Lone Hero Studios does next. With a bit more polish and slightly better gameplay, they could actually deliver a 3D Platformer that takes us back to the golden era once again.
