Critic Reviews for NieR: Automata 3C3C1D119440927

I'm not going to begrudge the developers for building a piece of DLC that's heavily tailored for high-level play. In fact, I'm quite glad that it is as it is, as, aside from a secret boss or two, there really wasn't all that much high-level content in the base game. The downside to this strategy is, of course, that it makes the DLC a tough sell to anyone who hasn't progressed that far, or to someone who enjoys the game on a far more casual level. For as much as I enjoyed my time with 3C3C1D119440927, this is definitely one for the more ardent of NieR fanatics.

NieR: Automata's 3C3C1D119440927 DLC isn't the most accessible or substantial DLC you'll ever play, but it still manages to capture some of that magic that the base game had no shortage of.

I'm sure some might be a bit offended by what's on display, but this game is rated M for some very good reasons.

The new DLC for Nier Automata is a fantastic reason to hop back into an already fantastic game. Just hope you kept that save file.

Lasting a few hours, this additional content may be too brief to justify a purchase from those with only a fleeting interest in the game. One of its three colosseums is frustrating to play, and the only new musical track can hardly be heard over cheering sound effects. However, for hardcore fans, three new varied challenges, a secret boss fight, a range of customisation items and a tragic story that lives up to the base game makes what was already one of video gaming's greatest accomplishments even better.

Nier: Automata did not succeed because of its combat, and yet the preposterously named 3C3C1D119440927 is pure combat served with gimmicky restrictions. In remains, however, fabulously weird, and while player's takeaway won't reach Automata's profundity, it's still without a conscious equal in its medium.

Is it worth the price of admission… that's hard to tell. If you are a die hard fan of the series I would imagine this is indeed something you need to complete your "set" as it were. If you only really play Nier Automata in a casual manner… then perhaps sit this out… though the chance to fight a real "boss" battle may be worth even grinding that bit to get to the required level… maybe wait for a special before putting your cash down.
