Critic Reviews for Disco Dodgeball Remix

In the competitive world of online multiplayer, a game must be special to stand out from the crowd. Disco Dodgeball Remix stands out for all the wrong reasons. It proves itself to be a nice idea stretched to breaking point and beyond. I played it, so you don't have to.

Overall I loved Disco Dodgeball Remix. This wacky FPS dodge ball game keeps the fun coming with various game modes, high intensity music, and extremely entertaining gameplay. Although the art style looks a bit childish, it works for this game. Disco Dodgeball is a great game, and if you pre-purchase the game in the Nintendo eshop you can get the game for 20% off!

Whilst it's not quite the next Rocket League it's still a rather good arena-based team game that's easy to drop into and play for short periods.

For the faults you can find with Disco Dodgeball Remix, there's a lot of fun to be had as well.

Don't let the playful concept fool you, Disco Dodgeball Remix is no joke and should not be overlooked. Gameplay is fun, fast, furious, and more balanced than most AAA shooters. The game offers a ton of content for both multiplayer and single player gamers.

Disco Dodgeball Remix has a flair of its own and it features a visual and audio environment that are pretty unique. It doesn't fully live up to those standards, though, as the game's experience with the multiplayer component ends up feeling short due to a lack of online opponents and to a control system that needs more work.

Still, though, there are plenty of opportunities where you'll enjoy this game. With friends it's a blast, probably even better while drunk. That sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise. I'm not. It's the perfect little party game for you to crack open when you've got 15 minutes to kill pre-gaming or just fancy an LSD-inspired palette-cleanser. What it isn't is a game that you'll sink hours and hours into, or one that will build up a hugely popular competitive scene that breaks the bank all around the world. This isn't that game, which is fine. Not every game can be a Rocket League-style success. This is Disco Dodgeball Remix, a slice of silly fun – even if there isn't much of it to go around.

The bright, flashing lights - and admittedly catchy thumping club music - coupled with an eye-watering amount of modes and game/bot customisation isn't quite enough to dress up what essentially feels like a promising idea that's vastly undercooked. A little more time in the oven - and with a more appetising and interesting main course - and Disco Dodgeball could have been a much stronger option on the small, but rapidly growing menu of online-focused games for Switch.
