Much like Mega Man's transformation himself between series, Mega Man X Legacy Collection feels like an upgrade on all fronts and should be an entry point for all Mega Man novices and longtime fans. Sporting the add-ons that made the previous collection great and smart new cohesion and modes to tie the package together, Capcom outdoes itself with another remastered collection.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 brings back the nostalgia by giving you all eight Mega Man X games. As far as that aspect is concerned, the collection hits things on all cylinders and brings to you a great gaming experience. The abysmal attempt at extra content really makes this an average collection rather than something special. If you're going to buy this, it should be for the eight X games and not for the extra content even though the extra content is good enough to play through once.
As sparse as the extra options are as well as the inclusion of a couple of legitimately awful titles, both of the Mega Man X Legacy Collections pay adequate tribute to one of the premiere 2D action franchises of all-time, which itself spun off a legendary franchise.
In many ways this is Mega Man at its finest, and outside of the fact that most of the eight games play the same, this Legacy Collection is a fine reminder of why the X series is held in such high regard.
The games look great, sound fantastic, control like a dream, with some great extras thrown in to boot as well. If you are a fan of Mega Man, the Mega Man X legacy collections are an unhesitant yes.
With its impeccable presentation, its focus on history, and its ability to remix its challenges to make decades-old games feel brand new, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 is a necessity for Mega Man fans.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 provides a lot of value for players.
MMXLC Vol.1 & 2 were most certainly fun to play and I'm glad that I got to review them as they introduced me to the series, but the collection has some inherent problems, not to mention that the asking price is simply way too high for what you get.
If you are looking for a fantastic trip down memory lane and want to experience some seriously solid platforming, by all means, get equipped with the Mega Man Legacy Collection.
All in all, Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 packs in a wealth of content, though not all of it holds up as well as we would've liked. The high price does little to help matters either. Hardcore fans have enough of a reason to give this a go, everyone else is better off waiting for a price drop.
With rumors flying around about Mega Man X9 on the horizon, now may be a good time to invest in X and Zero's journey.
It's difficult to recommend Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 since it's so wildly inconsistent in its quality. What is essentially being offered is one game that's decent (albeit unmemorable), one that's sometimes great, and then two that are complete trainwrecks. That said, Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X8 are worth playing through as they're still fairly enjoyable in their own right. Otherwise, though, there's not much reason to check this out.
And for the big question, is Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 worth the time and the money spent on like the first episode? To be frank, no, totally not. As mentioned above, the 2nd collection has none to offer but two worthy instalments of the series, X5 and X8. Although these two lonely are as important as the first four titles in the series, I'd highly recommend the second collection only to those who are truly in love with the blue bomber

I do [overall like it]. It harkens back to the first three games in a big way. They even brought Vile back.
Aside from the X Challenge mode not adding much to it, the extra contents and the games themselves makes Mega Man X Legacy Collection a valuable option for the fans of the franchise and anyone new to it.

The games here aren't necessarily terrible, but none of the games are on par with the essential experiences found in the first collection.
So, whether or not you should buy Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 really depends on how much of a Mega Man fan you are.
As an overall compilation, the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 is full of some valuable series entries that are worth returning to. The original Mega Man X, plus X2, X4, and X8 offer the highest quality of the entire franchise. The more flawed portions of this compilation (X3, X5, X6, and X7) brings down its overall quality, however.
The collection overall is probably best for those that are nostalgic for the PlayStation 1 and 2 era Mega Man games; otherwise, there are much better platformers around on the Switch with better variety.
If there's one thing that Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 provides above all else, it's variety.
