Critic Reviews for We Happy Few: They Came From Below

Despite many ups and downs, Compulsion Games is finally delivering on the promising premise of We Happy Few and that’s worth celebrating even if it is a tad late.

We Happy Few's first DLC shows a glimpse of what the main game should have been. They Came From Below is full of heart and good humour, though a little heavy on the combat.

They Came From Below focuses in on We Happy Few's greatest strengths and really shines because of it. While its short length and weird quirks hold it back from true greatness, this is probably the best thing to come out of Wellington Wells yet.

I really want to know that why "We Happy Few" developers, didn't realese "They came from below" (or even Lightbearer) As a Full game instead of the main campaign of the game. It has everythinh that the main game doesn't (like nice action) and does'nt have the annoynig survival system which was in "We happy Few" main game. In the end i must say "They came from below" and "Lightbearer" are valuable DLCs that absolutely worth to try.

Roger & James in They Came From Below is a great narrative-driven linear DLC episode for We Happy Few. Sure, it lacks the exploration and big open spaces we saw in the base game, but by compressing the play area and focusing on the combat and puzzles over survival, the developers have delivered a really fun and interesting experience. The stars of the show are clearly Roger and James themselves, their personalities, narrative, interactions, and banter bring this episode to life as it adds comedic elements into the dark and serious undertone of an alien/robotic invasion.

We Happy Few: The Came From Below is the first story DLC for the game. Roger and James need to save the world from robot onslaught in this 2-hour long linear story. It's full of brand new enemies, weapons and mechanics, but it's a departure from know We Happy Few formula.
