Players can login into Overwatch to receive five Winter-themed loot boxes right now.
On Twitter, it was announced that Overwatch players will be able to receive five free Winter-themed loot boxes by logging into the game . Players will be able to get these free loot boxes until January 2nd. That is when the Winter Wonderland event going on right now ends, as well as an event surrounding Mercy.
Overwatch is currently in the midst of celebrating the holidays with its Winter Wonderland event. The event is running on all consoles right now. The Winter Wonderland includes the return of a limited-time mode called Mei's Snowball Offensive. There is also a new mode that also focuses on Mei: Snowball Deathmatch. This mode gives players the ability to catch snowballs and add them to the player's ammo count. The first player that reached 15 eliminations wins the match.
The Winter Wonderland event also introduced new Legendary skins such as Jotunn Doomfist, Mountain Man McCree, Rat King Reaper, and more. There are also several new sprays and player icons.
Another Overwatch event is running alongside the Winter Wonderland. Right now there is an event running that focuses on the healer Mercy. The event lets players earn loot that centers around her. This includes new sprays and a new skin. Some of the rewards are earned by getting a certain number of wins. Three wins nets the new player icon, while six wins earns two new sprays. Finally, nine wins rewards the Dr. Ziegler skin. The rest of the sprays are earned by watching Twitch. Watching for a certain amount of time will reward players with new sprays. There are a total of six new sprays that can be earned by watching a certain amount of hours.
Overwatch is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game has a sequel on the way, though we do not have a release date at the moment.
