Iron Man VR Delayed By Three Months

After a week of delays has already pushed back dates on games such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Marvel's Avengers, and Cyberpunk 2077, another delay has been announced in the shape of Iron Man VR.

The PlayStation VR exclusive was once scheduled to arrive this February, but developer Camouflaj took to Twitter to announce a change of plans. The title will now launch on May 15, 2020. Their full statement is as follows: "In order to deliver on our vision and meet the high expectations of our amazing community, we’ve made the difficult decision to move Marvel’s Iron Man VR to a May 15, 2020 release. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding. You’ll be hearing from us again soon!"

Iron Man VR is, in a way, a flight sim. The entire game takes place high above ground level as players strap into Tony Stark's famous Iron Man suit and battle airborne villains. The Seattle-based Camouflaj previously worked on Republique for Sony and has now been granted the Marvel license for the virtual reality game.

The delay marks the second such event for a Tony Stark-led game this week after Square Enix kicked off the week by pushing back Marvel's Avengers, their hero-based loot brawler, to September. Originally it was due in April. Square also moved the Final Fantasy 7 Remake back a month from March to April. Just yesterday, CD Projekt Red also joined the delay train by moving back Cyberpunk 2077's release date from April to September, much like Avengers.

While the old trend of bemoaning delays has largely given way to a new understanding that developers and players may all benefit from added time in the studio, some still decry the likelihood that delays mean more time in "crunch," not less. CD Projekt admitted as much at a recent investor Q&A.
