Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can now access the game's companion app.

New Horizons' companion app, NookLink, is now available for gamers to use. The service is accessible through the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app, which can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store. The NookLink app allows players to scan QR codes of custom patterns that are made in New Leaf and Happy Home Designer in order to bring them over to New Horizons. Gamers will also be able to voice and text chat with other  players while playing online. NookLink can be set up through the Settings menu on New Horizons' title screen. A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required in order to use NookLink.

Players can get a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for $4 for one month, $8 for three months, and $20 for a year. A family plan is also available. The plan costs $35 a year, and can cover up to eight Nintendo Account holders across multiple Switch's. The service allows gamers to access the multiplayer functions of most Nintendo Switch titles, and also gives players access to a number of classic Nintendo titles.

It has been revealed that players will need to be connected to the internet in order to experience events in New Horizons. This is being implemented in order to prevent players from adjusting the clock on their Switch in order to access events ahead of time. The first event coming to New Horizons is Easter, which will be held from April 1-12. It is unknown what players can expect during this time, but they should expect plenty of goodies throughout the event.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch. The game has been receiving much critical acclaim. The game currently has a 92 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic, and holds a Mighty rating.
