One of the biggest games in the history of games, Red Dead Redemption 2, is coming to Xbox Game Pass very soon. Rockstar's western epic arrives in Xbox's subscription library on May 7 and will be available to all Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched in October 2018 to nearly unanimous high praise. Its OpenCritic score sits today at a 2018-best 96 overall with 96% of 191 critics recommending the game for play. Overall, Microsoft says the game garnered more than 250 perfect scores while taking home more than 195 Game of the Year awards, in a year that saw it butting heads with the Nordic God of War sequel at every ceremony.

Red Dead Redemption 2 tells a prequel story to 2010's classic and shifts the protagonist role away from John Marston and onto Arthur Morgan in the final weeks of the Dutch van der Linde gang's dominance amid a wild west growing ever tamer and more lawful. It's a story of an endangered species - the outlaw, and it's been praised from virtually everyone for its storytelling, even as these days its the included Red Dead Online that keeps the game's wheels moving.

With one Rockstar game hitting the Xbox Game Pass library, another is on the way out. Grand Theft Auto 5, which has been in the library since the start of the new year, is leaving the service on the same day its cowboy successor arrives, May 7. You have until then to finish up what you were working on in the expansive game, or if you buy it (or nay game) in Game Pass before they leave, you get a 20% discount.
