After announcing the plans weeks back, Rare has today confirmed Sea of Thieves will hit Steam on June 3. It will debut at a price of $39.99.

The pirate adventure MMO originally debuted on Xbox One and Windows on March 20, 2018. It was the first game to launch directly into Xbox Game Pass. After receiving a cold welcome from fans and critics, the game has grown to be Xbox's most popular new IP of the generation, recently celebrating a milestone of 10 million unique players.

Over on Xbox Wire, executive producer Joe Neate wrote a bit about what Steam players can expect when they quite literally dive in.

"Since launching on Xbox One and Windows 10 in March 2018, the game has been on a hugely eventful journey. From the arrival of its first free new adventures in The Hungering Deep to the enormous Anniversary Update that introduced Tall Tales and The Arena, and then on to the introduction of more regular monthly content releases in 2019 – most recently with Ships of Fortune in April – it’s evolved into the definitive pirate adventure – growing stronger with each slew of additions and ways to play."

Alongside the news comes a brand new trailer highlighting some of the thrills and gorgeous scenes players can exect in Sea of Thieves, including PvP, PvE, and a lengthy story campaign called Tall Tales.

Steam players will be able to join those already on Xbox and PC in crossplay online in the game's PvPvE Adventure mode as well as the feistier Arena mode.

Meanwhile, Neate also revealed that the game's next update, a quality-of-life patch called Lost Treasures, is arriving next week on May 27. As always, the update will be free for all players.
