Starting today, a new event has begun for Overwatch, centering around Mercy. Through it, players will have the opportunity to earn a new Legendary skin for the healer. The event will run from November 12th to December 2nd.

Coinciding with a newly released short story about Mercy, the event allows players to earn rewards that center around her. These rewards include sprays, a player icon, and the aforementioned skin. In total, there will be eight sprays, one icon, and the Legendary Dr. Ziegler skin.

To earn some of the the rewards, players have to win a certain amount of matches. Winning three games earns players the new icon. Winning six games earns two new sprays, and winning nine games rewards the Dr. Ziegler skin. The rest of the sprays are earned through watching participating Twitch streams. Watching two hours unlocks one new spray, while watching four hours will unlock two sprays. Finally, watching six hours will earn three sprays. In order to earn these rewards, viewers Blizzard and Twitch accounts must be linked.

The Mercy event follows the release of a new short story about Mercy, entitled "Valkyrie." The story is set in Egypt, and is told from the perspective of Mercy, or Dr. Angela Ziegler. In the story, she recalls the experiences that led her to joining Overwatch, as well as why she was forced to leave. The story can be read for free here, and also gives a good look at her new skin.

Of course, this short story is helping lead to Overwatch 2. The game has not received a release date yet, though we do know that it will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Last week, Game Informer was able to visit the offices of Blizzard. Through the visit, it was revealed that there are four unannounced heroes coming to Overwatch 2. Not much was seen, though there were hints what what they will look like. Hopefully those characters will be revealed soon.
