The upcoming Borderlands 3 DLC, entitled Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot, has been given a December 19th release date. According to Borderlands 3's main website, players will raid Handsome Jack's casino for some awesome loot, battling through Hyperion forces and casino goers. Loot includes a new Legendary weapon, as well as plenty of Eridium and cash. Players will also be able to earn Vault Hunter Heads and Skins, Weapon Trinkets, an ECHO Device Skin, and new Emotes.

Players will have to advanced far enough into Borderlands 3's story to have access to Sanctuary III in order to jump into the heist. The enemies and loot that gamers encounter will scale to their level.

Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot is a part of the game's $49.99 Season Pass and will be the first of four expansion to release for the title. It was not stated hows much the DLC will cost if purchased on its own.

Along with the announcement of the new expansion, it was revealed that Borderlands 3 will be free to play on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this weekend. The trial starts tomorrow, November 21st, and will last until November 24th. Also starting tomorrow is the free DLC challenge Takedown at Maliwan's Blacksite. This bit of DLC is a level 50 four-player co-op mission. Public matchmaking will be an option for the Takedown, which is tuned for 30-45 minutes of gameplay. The challenge will feature new enemies and three ultra-tough bosses. Those who beat the Takedown will earn loot exclusive to the DLC, including some of the best shields in the game. The challenge is designed to be replayable, allowing players the opportunity to earn all the loot exclusive to the Takedown.
