The six games coming to Nintendo Switch Online include four SNES titles and two NES classics. The four SNES titles are Star Fox 2, Kirby Super Star, Super Punch-Out!!, and Breath of Fire II. The two NES games are Crystalis, and Journey to Silius. The games will be available on December 12th.
Star Fox 2 is the featured game of the bunch, and is the lost sequel to the original Star Fox. The game was meant to release for the SNES in 1995, but was shelved in order to make way for the Nintendo 64. The game finally saw the light of day when it was featured on the SNES mini console.
Kirby Super Star released for the SNES in 1996, and featured 8 games in one package. Super Punch-Out!! was the sequel to the original Punch-Out!!, and featured rival boxers such as Bear Hugger, Bald Bull, and Super Macho Man. Breath of Fire 2 is a 16-bit traditional RPG, whose release should please its cult following. Journey to Silius is a run-and-gun that was originally supposed to be a Terminator licensed title. Finally, Crystalis is a post-apocalyptic RPG and another game with a cult following.
Nintendo Switch players need to have a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online in order to play these six classic titles. The service is also required in order to play games online, including titles such as Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Gamers can subscribe for one month for $3.99, three months for $7.99, or for twelve months for $19.99. The service comes with a large number of classic titles that gamers can play as long as they are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online.
