8.5 / 10.0 - TowerFall Ascension
Mar 31, 2014

If you remember when "multiplayer" meant friends and a multitap, Towerfall: Ascension will fill you with glee. With its healhty dose of old-school adversarial local multiplayer, fans of games like Powerstone or Super Smash Bros should already have Towerfall: Ascension in their libraries. .

8 / 10.0 - Luftrausers
Mar 31, 2014

Luftrausers is the very definition of replayable insanity. It's difficult, intense and feels smooth when you master the controls. And yet you'll come back for more in a new and improved Rauser time after time, with the constant flow of action never getting old.

7 / 10.0 - Goat Simulator
Apr 1, 2014

Exploring the world and causing trouble was really satisfying, but the appeal disappears as soon as you realise there is only one map. Hopefully Steam Workshop expands on the ideas here, otherwise it may not have much lasting appeal. A multiplayer mod is a must for the future of Goat Simulator!

6.5 / 10.0 - King Oddball
Apr 2, 2014

King Oddball is fun, it really is. I could see myself playing this on my phone, or even my Vita, even though there are much better things to play on Vita. But as far as I can see, there is absolutely no reason to buy this on Ps4, and if this appeals to you, I would recommend buying it on a mobile platform.

Reaper of Souls takes Diablo III and makes it much better, simple as that. I would highly recommend it to any fan who has decided to skip it. This is what Diablo III should have been!

While Episode 1 doesn't manage to live up the heights of the previous Bioshock games, Episode 2 closes the book on the series that not only extends the world of Bioshock, but also creates the sweetest farewell to a beloved franchise.

A solid new addition to the Call of Duty experience and some of the best maps I've played in a long time

There's a lot of golf to be had in this game, and it's damned good golf. Still golf, which isn't going to be everyone's taste to begin with. However, World Tour's charming world and interesting overworld design sets it apart from the other titles in the series and earns a surprising recommendation.

By their very nature, MMO's evovle - but as it stands right now, The Elder Scrolls online isn't a worthwhile investment. If you're an Elder Scrolls fan, you might want to give it a try but I do think you may be a teeny bit disappointed. If you're an MMORPG fan, there are some ideas here that you will certainly like.

It's so sweet it might cause you digital diabetes, but its levels are well designed and the entire thing is thoroughly charming. Kirby Fighters is a surprisingly robust addition, that makes the wait for Super Smash Bros a little more bearable.

8.5 / 10.0 - Child of Light
Apr 28, 2014

Child of Light's water-colour fantasy is beautiful to behold - but it's the constantly rewarding, explorative gameplay that's keeps it enchanting.

7.5 / 10.0 - Trials Fusion
Apr 29, 2014

Trials veterans will feel right at home with this latest instalment in the franchise, but they won't be able to shake off that nagging feeling that something is missing, despite the new tricks on offer. Newcomers, prepare to fail again and again as you find yourself addicted to a deceptively simply formula.

6 / 10.0 - Daylight
May 6, 2014

It's just let down by the repetitiveness and enemies that soon reveal themselves to be nothing more than a nuisance. Ultimately, the biggest shock Daylight gave me was the realisation that I was out to collect stuff instead of surviving the horrors around me. Don't say you weren't warned

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn is truly a new and improved MMORPG. It takes all the best features from MMOs and Final Fantasy games and combines them in this fantastic package. The PS4 is its ideal platform - this is the Final Fantasy game that I've been waiting for.

Over the years, Spider-Man has been amazing, sensational, spectacular and superior. This year, he's just plain terrible.

Originally and stupidly funny, with plenty of charm wrapped up in a package that is a bit too short.

8 / 10.0 - Mario Kart 8
May 15, 2014

What it lacks in raw innovation it more than makes up for in pure joy. Mario Kart 8's bare-bones presentation is offset by its solid core racing, and is an essential purchase for every Wii U owner who appreciates fun.

8.5 / 10.0 - Transistor
May 21, 2014

The experience of Transistor is lush and enjoyable. It is a beautiful game with some truly excellent mechanics. Unfortunately, its story and lack of character development through gameplay brings the rest of the game down - but not by much.

It may have a few inconsistencies that can otherwise hamper the fine action in front of you, but this is the Wolfenstein return that for the most part, manages to mix deliciously old-school violence with a new generation of visuals and storytelling.

8 / 10.0 - Watch Dogs
May 27, 2014

Watch Dogs won't please everyone. Its shallow narrative and bland protagonist detract, but those looking for a finely-crafted open world game that eschews parody and satire for an overall darker tone will have a great time in Watch Dogs' digital Chicago.
