It's a brilliant, entertaining adventure that is worth repeating over and over again, you'll never get tired of chasing the American Dream in Los Santos.
The Last of Us Remastered Edition deserves another perfect score on the PlayStation 4 thanks to the collected DLC and improved graphics that I thought could not be possible due to how amazing it looked on the PS3. Nonetheless for fans and newcomers, they will enjoy the story of Joel and Ellie as they explore this decimated world and get lost in the untold chapter of Ellie plus the multiplayer fun of Abandoned Territories with its rich textures, colours and silky smooth graphics. Gaming doesn't get any better than this!
Personally, I think this is one of the best games on the console at the moment and the developers should be commended for not only taking the series to a new level but successfully rebooting the franchise for the 21st century and still paying homage to what came before it.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is one of the best RPG's that I have ever played and after the previous game, I really didn't know what to expect because that game was so good. This game has got characters that you actually care about, a story that is very engaging from the get go and almost flawless gaming mechanics. The combat system works well, especially the varied enemies that you face as you attempt to locate your ward Ciri before The Wild Hunt finds her.
The South Park game we have been waiting for is at last here.
The Talos Principle Deluxe Edition is a must play title on the PlayStation 4
Ask me what the best experience is on the Wii U and I would tell you Smash Bros. in a heartbeat. After a long winter of Nintendo titles that didn't quite hit the high note that people expected, Smash Bros. makes up for any shortcomings Nintendo has had in recent years. You don't even have to be a fan of fighting games to love Super Smash Bros. because it's a genre of its own. Its Nintendo's finest hour and I'll still be enjoying this game long after %100 completion.
Super Mario 3D World is one of the best Super Mario games (even better than Galaxy 2) to date and not only modernises the franchise but pays homage to what came before. It's fun, it's fast and it's the best multiplayer experience on the Wii U. I thoroughly enjoyed this game from start to finish and I will be returning again.
I have to admit that this is arguably the best game on Wii U. Mario Kart 8 brings all the frustrating fun and friendly chaos that has been expected from the series, but this iteration is much more refined and well-toned. The controls feel really great, no matter what configuration you use. If there is any reason to buy a Wii U, let Mario Kart 8 be it.
Batman Arkham Knight is another success story for Rocksteady Studios who once again create one of the most flawless Batman experiences to date that really dwarfs what came before it. Sure it has some parallels to the previous game but the new tweaks, challenges and storyline really takes this franchise to a new level and good luck to any other developer who tries to make the next instalment of a superhero game. Beautifully presented, slick gameplay and a storyline that in my books is better than the recent films, Batman Arkham Knight is a fitting way to end this franchise on a true high!
A beautiful, emotional, minimalist journey full of wonder and heartbreak.
Fallout 4 is a big game and I mean a BIG game on the XBox One which means don't expect to knock this game over in just a couple of sittings or over the weekend because you could easily spend in access of 100 hours playing and exploring this game, particularly with the ability to craft items and even your base.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the best Zelda games to date and it’s also the perfect game for the Nintendo Switch due to its portability. It’s a very well-crafted game with some wonderful gaming mechanics and nothing feels contrived or limited but rather, it creates a very engaging open-world experience and one that feels real on so many levels. So if you’re looking for a reason to buy a Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is almost the only reason you need. As I’ve kept spoilers to a bare minimum, the only other advice I would give is that do not rush playing this game, explore every area because it will make the experience a much more powerful one. Sure, some gamers have finished this title in a handful of hours but like any good relationship, give it plenty of time!
Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain is an interactive piece of art that truly pays homage to the original game and successfully expands the franchise into an open-world game. The gaming mechanics are flawless as are the beautiful graphics that go hand in hand with the gameplay and audio. Game of the Year hey? Well… it's a close fight between this title and the Witcher III and given there are only a few months left, I sincerely doubt another game will come close.
Assault Android Cactus is a delicious dish best served with everybody.
Forza Horizon 3 is not just a racing game but it’s an experience and Playground Games have for now delivered the perfect car game for Xbox One and Windows 10 PC’s. It’s graphically amazing, boasts perfect in-game mechanics and overall, the single-player and multiplayer components work on all levels! Yes, it’s pretty much perfect with a great open-world illusion set in beautiful Australia and the only thing is missing, is that smell of rubber!
Inside is a masterclass in minimalist design. Enthralling and enjoyable.
Even if players only progress as far as 'I don't get it', playing Inside—and stepping outside of that comfort zone—will leave you changed, even if only a little, on the inside.
So few games come close to perfect but Inside is a true gaming treat for XBox One, especially if you like dark puzzles!
Call of Duty Infinite Warfare is another first person shooter in this overcrowded market but what it offers is one of the most unique experiences of this genre in 2016 which includes exceptional gameplay, a fantastic story and truly riveting multiplayer. It’s definitely my favourite Call of Duty to date and Infinity Ward hasn’t pulled any punches when it came to the creation of this game. At times, the single-player is quite emotional and even bittersweet to an extent but where it excels is through its powerful narrative, direction and excellent cast. So once you’ve finished the excellent single-player campaign, you’ve got hours upon hours of multiplayer fun left to take you well into 2017.
