Gears for Breakfast has done a fantastic job of revisiting an old genre with a new, fresh perspective. Featuring tight controls, a whimsically colorful universe and characters, and a gorgeous soundtrack, 'A Hat in Time' hits all the right notes to become an instant classic.
Iconoclasts is a game that you can't help but smile while playing. The meticulous attention to detail in every facet of the game save its storytelling (which is good, just not great) is remarkable. Failure to capitalize on the Switch's HD Rumble is a bit disappointing, but it's a minor blemish on an otherwise excellent experience.
Aegis Defenders is a passion project in every sense of the phrase, and it shows. From its fleshed-out world and characters, to the gorgeous soundtrack, and frantically fun gameplay, it makes for a wholly unique experience. While each individual aspect is great on its own, Aegis Defenders truly is a game that's greater than the sum of its parts.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider may be the best in the trilogy, a high action adventure against which all future entries must now be measured.

Final Fantasy XV somehow transcends its many flaws in order to become a classic in its own right. Though any reviewer worth their salt would be hesitant to rate it too highly, due to its many faults, by any stretch of the gaming medium, Final Fantasy XV has clear and obvious merit, and, as such, cannot be dismissed or derided completely, even with its problems.
A short but sweet visual novel about waking up next to a stranger. A nice art style, solid script, and multiple endings that are fun to try and find. Hard to go wrong for $3.
Darkest Dungeon on PC is a fantastic game, and its Vita and PS4 versions carry on the tradition. Their interface is slightly clunky, but a few imperfections can't keep the classic gameplay down.
