DONTNOD has not announced when the fourth episode, Dark Room, will release, but I cannot wait to see what happens next with Max, her powers, Blackwell Academy, Chloe, and the mystery of Rachel Amber. This is one of the most fascinating mysteries I have experienced in years. It may have been a little slow with episode 2, but it's picked up full steam now and there is nowhere for it to go but barreling ahead. Those who like mysteries and point-and-click adventures do not want to miss what Life is Strange has to offer.
Simply put, this first Chronicle alone is must-buy for any fan of the Assassin's Creed series.
Killing a boss is more rewarding than in other games out there, because you know how much practice went into that effort. I enjoyed Bloodborne as much as I have enjoyed the Dark Souls games. That means it kicks ass. Get it, play it, be punished by it and say you're a hardcore gamer. Nobody will argue with you.
Bear in mind that this is more than just another interactive storyline with zombies in it. There are so many different layers to the experience. Weaving your own thread around the main story arch and deciding which characters to support and which to shun makes you feel better than watching top-notch TV shows like Breaking Bad or True Detective. It's almost like you're writing the story yourself and you're right in the middle of it, making all the decisions. It's a sensation few games can match.
The LEGO Movie Videogame was one of the few LEGO games that instantly made me want to play more upon finishing the story mode. I probably spent just as many hours in the hub world trying to unlock red bricks by solving puzzles and completing side quests as I did in the story mode alone. Everything is indeed awesome in this LEGO game.
I keep finding more and more things to do and work towards in Wildstar that I sometimes find myself torn by what to focus on next. When I attended the media event two months before the game launched Carbine promised that they would be delivering updates and new content regularly. As we enter into the second month post launch they are making good on that promise with their second content drop hitting the servers today meaning even more options for players to get lost in. In short, the game is already getting bigger. Yes it's an MMO, yes it has a lot of the same features or game play we have seen in other titles and yes its so freaking huge you might feel overwhelmed with your options but if you are fan of the genre, but even with the little technical issues currently in the game, you can find no better option than Wildstar.
Anyway, away with such idle talk. The promise of riches and delicious loot hangs in the air.
At least what they did copy, they did very well, and it wasn't so overpowering it marred any experience I had. The game never stopped surprising me with its parody and humor, and its insane combat never stopped being fun. Annoyances aside, this is the game for anyone itching for something that not only refuses to be taken seriously, it embraces its ridiculosity with open arms.
Titanfall is a must buy. Yes, I have admitted I have a thing for giant robots and the game is overflowing with a variety of sexy, lethal robots. While we are not seeing anything truly new or groundbreaking in the multiplayer shooter here, the execution and style more than make up for innovation. The leveling and unlocks that accompany them, the variety of well-designed maps and game modes, the paper-rock-scissors balance of man vs. robot combat and overall polish that is present throughout this online only multiplayer shooter make it great fun to play. Period. Buckle up Pilot. Prepare for Titanfall!
Cities: Skylines definitely scratches that city-building itch that has been left in a void for too long. If you decide that being a mayor of a city is the path for you, be prepared to have the hours zing by as you delve into a deep experience that will reward you for your efforts. If SimCity 2013 disappointed you, look into Cities: Skylines for that band-aid.
Enemy Within is how XCOM was meant to be played. It takes all the great things from the original and refurbishes them with all sorts of cool new additions to the gameplay. If you haven't been introduced to the XCOM universe yet, this would be the right time to start.
Bayonetta 2 is one of the best action games of this generation, and close to one of the best overall. It's a downright shame that not many will play this game due to the small install base of the Wii U, but here's hoping that Bayonetta 2 will be a system seller to get the appreciation it definitely deserves.
The Ultimate Edition, even with its facelift, is pretty much more of the same, and will only appeal to series fans and possibly rein in newcomers just in time for a Gears of War 4 release. For a Gears of War fan, however, this remastered edition is a must-own for your library. Marcus has never looked more intense, the Kryll have never looked more terrifying, and the Locust have never looked more disgusting. The Ultimate Edition truly is the ultimate Gears of War experience.
There appears to be enough going on in the great Boston commonwealth to keep players questing and exploring for quite a while to come.
Forza Motorsport 6 is a love letter to racing fans that greatly makes up for the shortcomings of the last installment in the series. There are more tracks, racing styles, and vehicles than ever before, complemented by a robust single player campaign. These features join an already stunningly beautiful graphics engine and their already state-of-the-art multiplayer and community tools.
So what I have found while playing Overwatch is that once again Blizzard is still going about game development like they have before. The game is incredibly polished with a unique set of heroes that are evenly counter balanced.
As terrible as I am at Total War: Warhammer, I couldn't ask for a deeper, more robust Warhammer title. Prepare for some frustrations with such a complex campaign, but also prepare to lose hours of your life as you wonder, "But what if I handled that like this…" as you reload your last save for the umpteenth time.
This is a gloriously mature adventure that is well worth liberating from retail captivity.
Everybody's Gone to the Rapture has a subtlety and nuance that is extremely refreshing. Calling this a "game" is doing it a great disservice. It is an experience. Thusly, this might not be everyone's cup of tea. However, those that chose to invest their valuable time in this 5 hour gem will be rewarded with one of the most compelling experiences in recent memory. The truth is out there, just waiting to be discovered. Don't miss out.
This new King's Quest may not be developed by the original husband-wife team from Sierra Games, but it's more than obvious that the developers are King's Quest fans who wanted to bring back some of that magic. Their first episode was very successful at doing just that, for both old fans and to bring in new ones. Any fan of point-and-click adventure games will enjoy diving into Daventry, and any King's Quest fan will love jumping back into Graham's realm.
