This DLC is a must-have for anyone with an interest in fighting the undead, whether you are a long-time fan of Nazi Zombies or a newcomer. Zombie Chronicles breaths new life into the undead-filled survival mode for which Call of Duty has been know for years. Everything is as you remember it, only far prettier and with a sense of tighter controls. Do yourself a favor and check out the end of an era before Call of Duty: WWII drastically changes up the formula.
Not a bad game, but very basic with a fair amount of modes and replay value that raise it’s worth exponentially. If you are yearning for a frantic shooter, than this will quench your bullet lust.
While the episode may not be quite as good as the first, Life is Strange: Before the Storm Episode 2 – Brave New World is another excellent addition to the Life is Strange series. If you enjoyed the first and can't wait to see more come from the Chloe and Rachel relationship, this new episode is a must play for you.
The Red Strings Club manages to craft a point-and-click adventure that can, at times, be edge-of-your-seat engrossing. The game’s simplistic presentation gives way to deeper systems at play, creating tension in creative ways. Given that most of the game develops in a static bar location, with only a handful of departures from the setting to explore snippets of a well-realized world, it is a testament to the developer’s skill at keeping the player engaged through an endless barrage of text boxes broken up by entertaining bouts as a charming information broker with a knack for mixology. The questions laid before the player will stick around long after the credits roll, which will sadly happen long before you are ready to part with the game. The Red Strings Club rarely fails to impress, but given the brief runtime those short-lived areas may be felt more than they should. Still, this is a notable success from Deconstructeam.
Not only does Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology add a few quality of life fixes that were not in the original, but it also adds new content that is really enjoyable. As a fairly underrated gem from the Nintendo DS library, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology really deserves this second chance it is getting that hopefully may lead to a much requested sequel.
Call Of Duty: WWII’s second DLC helping, The War Machine delivers in content and diversity in more ways than the previous one. It offers the always entertaining zombie mode a new map to run around and play in, but also manages to introduce new elements into the already fresh War Mode with the latest map. Coupled with events that seem to occur every few weeks and a wonderfully varied array of multiplayer map, fans will be coming back to The War Machine’s content again and again.
Hitman 2 offers a variety of options in the gameplay department. It also allows for exploration and trial and error. The additional modes adds even more replay value and continued play as we transition from standard single player games into games as a service, this is an example of a great combination of both worlds. 47 has never looked so good and so deadly.
Ubisoft manages to stay right on track with Trials Rising thanks to a wide selection of events and a varied customization system, along with in-game seasonal competitions and custom tracks that will have players coming back for more.
Returning 12 years after the previous mainline entry, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown shows why fans have been awaiting a return to the danger zone for so long. The game features a very enjoyable campaign of respectable length alongside a serviceabale enough story, but the actual gameplay itself and exclusive PSVR support are what really stand out in the high flying Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
MLB The Show 19 manages to craft a solid baseball experience despite being a yearly released title. This year they managed to improve and expand each of the main modes be it Diamond Dynasty, or Road To The Show. Not only that, but they even added another addicting mode to the plate with March To October. Fans will surely be playing this long after the MLB season is over.
If you’re looking for a new racer that feels different from the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo, but don’t mind a bit of a learning curve, DiRT 4 is definitely worth checking out. Between the time based rallies and actual racing events, Codemasters continues to prove why they are one of the best in the racing game business with DiRT 4.
While it may not have the finesse of other NBA licensed games, it manages to be a structurally solid pick-up and play street basketball game with a lot of licensed players to choose from.
The Long Dark takes an interesting approach to the bustling survival genre by adding a story-heavy campaign, and it looks to be paying off so far. The tale being told in Wintermute has not developed into anything wildly deep at this point and there has yet to be given much of a reason to care for the characters in play, but by the end of the second episode I still felt the desire to see everything through to the end. I needed to know how this unique apocalypse pans out, so the developer is clearly doing something right. The slow, methodical pacing may turn some potential players away, but those that can carry the weight of the game’s encumbering systems will find a gorgeous adventure worth the time investment.
Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour is a nostalgia-filled romp with familiar characters tossed into a new genre. The game loses little in its move over to the twin-stick shooter category, maintaining the components that we have all come to know and love over the past decade and a half. While not every new ingredient to Sam’s formula adds significant value, the end result is a lovingly-crafted shooter that retains the soul of Serious Sam.
2K Sports seemed to get really greedy this year with the implementation of VC in MyCareer, overshadowing the new Neighborhood layout in the mode. Regardless of this major flaw in the game, fanatics that focus more on online leagues or general play are going to absolutely love what NBA 2K18 has to offer.
The Evil Within 2 offers plenty of variety and freedom within its horror-filled town of Union. Sebastian Castellanos’ second outing is a much more fulfilling affair, filled to the brim with some truly inspired design. In a lot of ways, The Evil Within 2 feels like a spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4, giving us the horror experience that other developers had forgotten for a while. An unrefined stealth system and stiff voice over from the rough-around-the-edges ex-cop do little to diminish this terrifying treat, leaving it on the precipice of being something truly outstanding.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a very strong case for doing your own research before buying. Going in, you must know that the unlocking system in-game is pretty rough and we’ll likely see microtransactions return as some point. On the other hand, the brand new campaign and multiplayer options in Star Wars Battlefront 2 are a lot of fun and personify what makes Star Wars great.
Telltale Games has really gotten into a rhythm in recent years with churning out game after game and yet they still manage continual quality output. If you enjoyed the first season, there is no question you need to check out Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 – The Enigma. If you haven’t, you really should get on that sometime.
While Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was a must buy even for those that owned the game on Wii U, Pokken Tournament DX falls in a little bit different territory. It is still a lot of fun and is easily the definitive version of the game, but how much you enjoyed the original is really going to be the deciding factor on if you want to return to the world of Ferrum with Pokken Tournament DX.
Many were starting to get worried about the F1 series, but last year inspired hope yet again and now F1 2017 takes that an improves on it just enough. You certainly won’t find anything overly groundbreaking, but the new vehicle management setup and classic cars do just enough to get you back in that car for a victory lap with F1 2017.
