This game is more backwater base quartermaster than frontline fighter, but I guess the saying rings true; ‘War is hell.’
Fimbul, at its core, is a mildly fun hack N slash title.
Overall, there is very little in Forspoken worth mentioning. Seemingly a product without any clear direction and with any and every idea allowed to be added, Forspoken is a muddled, boring, toneless mess.
As a critic, I can’t pretend that the game’s flaws don’t outweigh its qualities. It’s all but impossible to really dislike a game like this, one that has such obvious good intentions and a sincere, hopeful outlook. But there’s also, unfortunately, little reason to recommend that you play it.
Mileage is very obviously going to vary on a game like Deadly Premonition 2 and I genuinely believe that should be embraced. For all of my (gameplay) criticisms, there will be another for whom they are points in the game’s favour and to them I say, have a blast.
It looks and plays like a mobile title, which is exactly what it is.
City of Brass could have been a truly fun game but falls short in its rogue-lite aspirations. The lack of engaging story, frustrating combat, uninspired levels and unsatisfying loot make this a chore.
I had high hopes for No Straight Roads. Its rock v EDM plot with a city powered by music is certainly right up my alley but it never capitalises on its potential. This is one of 2020’s biggest letdowns and a game that will forever be remembered for what could have been.
Ultimately I think Space Hulk Tactics goes down as another Games Workshop video game disappointment. The promise is there, but the execution leaves something to be desired.
Fans will get a kick out of seeing the update but everyone else would be better off giving this one a miss altogether.
Unfortunately, this is a time when putting the cake back in the oven hasn’t really helped, or it might have if the oven was turned on. Really it doesn’t feel like anything at all has changed since the initial release over six months ago.
Sakura Wars is a serviceable entry point for Western audiences but fails to deliver more than a modest take on what could have been a remarkable game.
If it were a game made 10 years ago, it would have been adequate, but it feels so antiquated compared to the racing games of today that it just doesn’t offer as much value.
Farming Simulator 19 was not made for me, and that’s fine. There is clearly an audience that enjoys the series, and for those that do, there is a hell of a lot of depth in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Overall, Claybook‘s presentation isn’t bad, it’s just completely ordinary. Which is a brand that Claybook never really elevates itself above
As a game, it sits somewhere between an indie title and AAA. Unfortunately, its priced as AAA which in my opinion it falls short of.
I’m sure some people will love it. Just look at how popular football management games are
The Deer God is a good exmaple of good intentions not coming to fruition
It’s throw away humour will appeal to some, but others will find it puerile.
Redeemer: Enhanced Edition is almost the game it wants to be, the game we all want it to be, but even this improved port can't change the fact that it simply isn't.
