Explosive Dinosaurs tries to be quirky, despite its flaws, but it does so in the same vein as the internet spouts recognizable memes. It’s not so much about the contents; it’s just about going through the motions.

Put simply, I am hesitant to suggest South Park: Snow Day! to anyone who isn't a fan of South Park. In my opinion, the gameplay isn't solid enough for anyone to have fun with this. This game becomes tedious in a very short span of time. The jokes in the previous two games were a major selling point since they made the otherwise dull gameplay more interesting. Alternatively, the game's humor is nonexistent, and the gameplay becomes exceedingly dull.

40 / 100 - One Last Breath
Apr 28, 2024

One Last Breath looks great from a distance but that notion changes very quickly when you start playing it. There’s endless potential and it needs a ton more polish before it can really take off but even then, there needs to be more intrigue to hold anybody’s attention. The minimalist story is what might make this game forgettable and it’s a sad fate for any release, however, not all hope is lost yet and we might still see more get added to what could be a great game to possibly rival a similar release known as After Us.

40 / 100 - Quantum Error
Oct 31, 2023

Quantum Error is too ambitious to the detriment of basic features. It wants to be a survival horror game, a first-person shooter, and a sci-fi thriller film but doesn't pull off any of these particularly well. Its most interesting aspect is its firefighting, but this is also what it spends the least of its playtime focused on. It is incredibly impressive that it was built by such a small team, but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable to play.

Blackout Protocol currently suffers from many symptoms of other online-first games. It needs a large player base to function, yet the developers are stifling the community from growing organically. It runs the major risk of being yet another Blightbound - a nearly dead-on-arrival multiplayer game that failed to resuscitate. However, Ocean Drive Studios can perhaps turn things around by taking player feedback seriously. Those interested in Blackout Protocol should monitor the ongoing Early Access development and make a call on when they are ready to jump in.

40 / 100 - Inner Ashes
Jul 13, 2023

It is pretty obvious that there is something within Inner Ashes worth talking about and discussing, especially with its narrative based around such a sensitive topic. However, as it stands, it is a game that I foresee most players walking away from this experience, being only able to make it through thanks to the story and maybe the dream world visuals or not being able to finish the game due to the lack of actual gameplay. The story here is the golden key to it all, and it shouldn’t go to waste, but either Inner Ashes should be something completely different or it needs a lot more time to be developed into something a lot more in-depth than what is here right now.

40 / 100 - Sunrise GP
Apr 27, 2023

Sunrise GP would simply be better if it had about another six months of development time, however, that doesn’t prevent it from being an overall dull experience. A lack of track variety is a large factor in this but isn’t the only problem. The lack of a spin on typical racing is another big flaw. It is so simple to picture Sunrise GP with an over-the-top drift and ramps or shortcuts because of its visual style but lacks anything of the sort.

40 / 100 - Crackdown 3
Feb 17, 2019

Unlike the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, the Xbox One doesn't have an acclaimed title that would entice someone the purchase Microsoft's console. When Crackdown 3 was announced many hoped it would become the system seller the Xbox One needed, even those unfamiliar with the franchise were excited for this. After numerous delays Crackdown 3 is finally here and it was not worth the wait. A mediocre campaign stuffed with busy work and a tacked on multiplayer makes Crackdown 3 only worth playing if you own Xbox Game Pass.

45 / 100 - Stolen Realm
Mar 8, 2024

Stolen Realm has so much potential to be great, but it needs a lot of polish and fine-tuning before it can really make a mark. The lack of story is somewhat balanced out by the combat mechanics, but that also needs a bit more work to keep things interesting. While the music leans more toward the monotonous side of things, the voice acting is the saving grace in that regard. However, what really shines above everything else is just how well implemented the low poly world is and how it interacts with the hex block design for combat strategy.

45 / 100 - Mato Anomalies
Mar 12, 2023

Mato Anomalies can be described as a game with a lack of focus. While the ideas for an excellent game are there, and the art style is superb, it is unfortunately submerged beneath the cavalcade of unfinished ideas and a confusing plot. Mato Anomalies does not know where its focus lies, and because of this, every aspect of the game suffers.

This port of As Far As The Eye does very little to make use of the PlayStation 4. The game itself has some fun ideas, and those that enjoy exploration and gathering aspects of simulation games like Civilization or Starcraft will find some enjoyment. Still, if possible, one should go for the Steam or Epic Store PC release if they have that option.

45 / 100 - 1954: Alcatraz

Unfortunately, the thematic music and the inclusion of a filter that makes the game look like a 50s movie just isn’t enough to save 1954: Alcatraz.

45 / 100 - DESYNC
Mar 4, 2017

Desync could’ve been the best shooter since Bulletstorm, especially since that road hasn’t been trotted to death, but it simply doesn’t get past its own vain design issues.

Spelunker HD Deluxe is a re-release that doesn’t improve on old flaws. The game maintains its punishing aspects of a retro platformer. It is challenging, but not necessarily rewarding.

It’s commendable the developers aren’t asking money for cosmetic items, especially in the age of orcs-in-boxes. That, however, isn’t enough to justify even its $20 price tag with the quality on offer.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is trying its hardest, but it comes off as a messy science project dressed up to look pretty, and we all know it doesn’t really do what it needs to. Sadly, a lot more polish is needed if there’s going to be hope of this release lasting longer than a year as a live-service title because, as we all know, they’re usually driven by the fans and a constant stream of income from microtransactions… Though there’s already a scarcity of pre-teens with a ton of money to burn, only time will tell.
