Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is trying its hardest, but it comes off as a messy science project dressed up to look pretty, and we all know it doesn’t really do what it needs to. Sadly, a lot more polish is needed if there’s going to be hope of this release lasting longer than a year as a live-service title because, as we all know, they’re usually driven by the fans and a constant stream of income from microtransactions… Though there’s already a scarcity of pre-teens with a ton of money to burn, only time will tell.
The Inquisitor has nearly endless potential to be great, but it’s so damn hard to get into the story, even if is based on a set of stories from a Polish author. It’s got a solid base, interesting mechanics, and brilliant voice acting, but the execution seems to need some work, and this detracts from the game in all the worst ways. However, if you have the patience or several shovels of salt, there is some good intrigue to the story that might keep you interested. Sadly, without a major visual and story overhaul, there might not be much hope for this release.
Stray Souls is a constant reminder that game development is tough to tackle, and what hopes to scare on the wrong hands may end up being terribly dull. It is a failed attempt at a great horror game that, with a little more polish and time in the oven, would have truly shined. As it stands, it's just a below-average experience with a few good jumpscares.
It certainly feels like the type of game built for people who love YouTubers that play horror games, as it is easily accessible and not a very difficult game to get through. It is a game built to get a reaction from the audience and not much else. Layers of Fear (2023) just doesn’t seem to scratch that itch that many will be looking for when searching for a game to play. It does do many things right in the sense that it does feel like a scary game, but it certainly isn’t for everybody.
Mia and the Dragon Princess is really only for the most diehard interactive FMV game fans. Even if one loves the rest of the Wales Interactive library, the game’s story is just a glaring oversight that brings down all of the great acting. Players will want to wait for a sale or bundle or to look for other game options in the meantime.
GUN JAM had so much potential to be great, but it’s just missing so much extra detail. The game is interesting and a joy to play at first but it loses that luster very quickly once you realize there isn’t much else to the game. With the lack of enemy variety, character background, or more stages to explore and destroy enemies in, GUN JAM needs a lot more work that we might see in the future.
Arkanoid - Eternal Battle is designed for a specific audience, however, it is one that might struggle to find a home on consoles. It looks fine, sounds good, and plays well enough what it is, but there is very little reason to keep playing beyond a passing fancy. Unfortunately, Arkanoid - Eternal Battle cannot rightfully be recommended at its current price point.
Gotham Knights is an incredibly average game that brings absolutely nothing new to the table. The graphics do not look like they belong to the next-gen, the story is really easy to guess, and the combat is nothing new. How can a game that allows you to go patrolling in Gotham be incredibly average!
Play The Tarnishing of Juxtia if you don’t have any other soulslike games to play, and it is also recommended that you probably get it on sale if you decide to play it. It is pretty, but it isn’t a unique kind of pretty. It has promise, but unless there are some movement and combat overhauls, the game simply isn’t all that fun to play.
XEL will keep you entertained for a while, but it’s also a little too clumsy at present. It's an underwhelming adventure game that probably needed more time in development.
Despite having an interesting theme, Stray fails to be a good game. It's fun, particularly during the exploration periods when you can observe the neon-lit world through the eyes of a cat and scale skyscrapers and other seemingly unreachable locations. It falls flat when it tries to use exciting action to excuse the fact that it is a video game; the fighting is as uninspiring as it is pointless. It may be brief, but there is no compelling reason for it to be expanded upon.
Diablo Immortal is a pleasant surprise for the most part. The franchise spirit inspired me to keep pushing forward until I got to the endgame material, where it became apparent that the whole thing had been a ploy to lure me into a cruel business scheme. Aside from the few flaws with the PC version, an overabundance of microtransactions and user interface distract the game's overall impression. This ordeal has been a roller coaster ride for me, and I'm glad to be out of it.
Lake is exactly what it promises to be: A relaxing routine for you to step away from your fast life. Every single aspect of Lake is there to simplify the experience, to make it easier to get through. But it becomes boring so soon, and there is no replay value.
Shadow Warrior 3 felt like a significant step down from the excellent Shadow Warrior 2, and it's a tremendous disappointment and a squandered chance to improve the franchise and get it out of its rut. Even when things go well, Lo Wang's irritating attitude makes it difficult to take pleasure in them. He is constantly pounding our ears with silly one-liners and awful acting, and even the bosses aren't fun to confront.
Expedition Zero is a tough journey through horrible conditions that can often feel one-sided. On the surface, it seems like a great horror adventure but that tone will change after your first instant death. If you are willing to deal with the technical issues and insanely aggressive monster AI, Expedition Zero will give you that gripping and intense feeling only horror games can deliver.
35MM is a promising narrative experience with a complimentary tone that reflects the demanding world humans find themselves in. The problem is that everything else just doesn't work well, from the technical problems to the stale gameplay.
The Weaponographist, while fun in a sort of mindless way, isn't a game that you'd want to play over and over again. The controls are too floaty, the environments are too repetitive, and while creative, it just doesn't work when it's put all together.
Although the turf-war element is fun to experience, the role-playing features of the game are completely uninspiring and feel like replicas of previous RPGs. No, I don’t think the game is a failure, as it is a decent follow up to the first Blackguards.
At this moment Pure Pool’s purchase potential is surrounded by a lot of “Ifs”. It does cost only ten dollars, however, acquiring the title now would only give you half a game. There’s a good foundation, however, the rest of the game is filled with holes.
It’s a sad reality, but the time for Speedball 2 HD stays where it once originated, many years ago. This sort of thing is acceptable on a Megadrive, but archaic sports structures don’t make for well-oiled games in the present.
