Ultimately, I had a lot of fun with 12 Is Better Than 6. It’s not your standard twin-stick shooter. There’s a huge tactical element alongside the standard twitch shooting.
If you’re a fan of tower defense titles, then Defense Grid 2 is a game that deserves some space on your Switch.
There are loads of content on offer here. If you rush through the main game you can finish in around 8 hours, but you’ll more likely spend somewhere between 15 and 30 hours working your way through the campaign. The extra single player missions are really nice and show how good Rebellion is at crafting stories.
The Switch isn’t exactly light on twin-stick shooters. Assault Android Cactus + is easily in the upper echelon, though.
The visuals may be basic, but they work perfectly well for what the game tries to do. The music is delightful and a real boon to the feelings that the game evokes. Cattails is a game that you should consider adding to your library whether you are a cat lover or not.
The story has enough to keep you engaged and the inclusion of Star Fox is inspired. I don't think this is the game that will reboot the toys-to-life genre, but I believe that it has enough to live on as a standard IP. I, for one, would be delighted to play through more adventures in the Starlink universe.
Overcooked 2 provides a welcome portion of second helpings.
I have to say that I have had a lot of fun with Rogue Aces. It's not the kind of game where you will be playing it for hours at a time, though you could and may start that way. It's the perfect game to take out and about with you and have a 5-10 minute blast on.
Pinstripe is a delightful little game. It has a great narrative and colorful characters, at least in terms of style and flair. The art style is lovely and the music fits well, adding nice texture without ever being obtrusive. It may be a little on the short side in terms of content, but this is a budget title. I completed the game in around three or four hours.
I may have put more time into my characters on the Xbox One version, but I really think the Switch will be my platform of choice going forward. Being able to play it on the go just feels so good. Diablo III: Eternal Collection comes very highly recommended.
I have to say, I really enjoyed My Memory of Us. It manages to tell a challenging story that reflects the Holocaust and concentration camps, all while maintaining a youthful innocence and focusing on the fun the characters are having together.
Bayonetta gets a welcome reissue on Switch. The game's fluid gameplay and tough as nails difficulty remain firmly intact. There's a nice nod to the ecosystem the game now finds itself on with some cool costumes based on Nintendo royalty. Otherwise, it's the same game as before. Overall, I cannot recommend Bayonetta 2 enough, this is a game that every Nintendo enthusiast and gamer should have in their collection.
With great multiplayer and a wealth of singleplayer content, this is a game that will keep you coming back for a long time to come.
If you are a Switch owner and have even a passing interest in racing games, then GRID Autosport is a title you must have in your game library.
Tropical Freeze is pretty much as good as 2D platform games get.
Aaero was my favorite game of last year, and with the move to Switch it’s now one of my favorite titles of 2018.
