Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons was already an incredible game. The original graphics were just dated enough that the larger, higher resolution screens we have available to us today were causing some of the beauty to be lost, unable to stand the test of time. The updated version not only adds to the incredible scenery but also allows the nuance of expression that adds to the already amazing storytelling.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a top example of bringing back a classic to the present day, with stunning visuals and a great story.

The unique twin-stick approach to controlling characters feels as intuitive now as it did back then, the creative puzzles are still a treat to solve, whilst the world looks better than ever thanks to the facelift the remake has been given. And the storytelling? It’s still top notch and tells an emotional tale that’ll stick with you long after playing. It is a bit on the short side and the main characters’ faces look a little weird, but they’re minor issues in what is otherwise a wonderful and memorable experience.

The most important gameplay innovation compared to the original remains the two-player co-op mode, which, strictly speaking, already existed in the 2019 version of the Switch. If you already know the latter or have already played through the original, you will primarily pay for a nice technology upgrade. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was hardly in need of a remake. However, replaying the game more than a decade after its debut, where every inch has been beautifully crafted anew, has been a delightful experience, and one we can finally share with a second player. We just wish there was more of it.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is everything we hoped it would be. Avantgarden and 505 Games gave us a remake created in Unreal Engine 5 that is completely faithful to the story, which remains intact. With a wonderful soundtrack, a new cooperative mode and breathtaking scenarios, the story of these brothers is worth reliving.
