Pokémon Ultra Sun does cover familiar ground, but the new changes and additions ensure a refreshing experience for both fans of the original and newcomers looking to be wowed by the sheer density of things to do in the Alola region.

While being the definitive Sun and Moon experiences, it's still lacking enough new locations to warrant the full price. We do enjoy the new Pokémon and the small enhancements that makes the games more pleasant.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are proper send-offs for what could be the last time we see the series on a handheld. Packed with hours of content and a lot more Pokemon to catch, they are more than enough to hold you over until Pokemon Switch.

Some things are better, some things are worse and some things are just different. So I don't think that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon can replace Sun and Moon, but rather they kind of just sit beside them. I don't know that I'd recommend one set of games over the other; instead, I'm just kind of glad that I played both of them.

I can't say Pokémon Ultra Sun is a must-play for fans, but it won't be leaving my 3DS anytime soon.

It's still a great game and with this version, there enough new to keep things fresh for all the players.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon's new features and additions ultimately make this a worthy game for Pokémon fans despite the story's pitfalls.

Ultra Sun and Moon follow pretty much the same script as Sun and Moon. However, there are several things along the way that make the adventure feel slightly different. There are new trainers to battle, new Pokemon to catch, and new items in different places. A number of locations got a few touch-ups, not in a drastic way but enough to make you notice that they didn't look that way before. And a few Island Challenges received improvements, though they still remain easy because of the lack of challenging puzzles. You also meet a group called the Ultra Recon Squad, who play a significant part in the story, early on. Aesthetically, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon feel like the developers simply rearranged the furniture to give us a better view of their wonderful creation - and the resulting product is way better than the original.

Even if you unlocked all there was from the Alola region in the previous games, these Ultra iterations have even more tucked away for you to discover.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon encourage a visit to Alola to catch ‘em all once more, but your mileage will vary based on your past experience with the previous titles. If you’ve never played the original Sun or Moon games, then Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon is the definitive version of the series’ seventh generation and a must-have for your Pokemon gaming collection. If you played the heck out of Sun and Moon, however, then the new features might not be enough to warrant a return trip. Still, it’s a worthy swan song for the series on the 3DS.

While not the completely new game some were hoping for. Game Freak have added and refined more than I thought we would get out of a mid-gen release. The addition of new Pokemon, dimensions to explore and story segments make Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon the definitive way to experience Alola. If you haven't played Sun or Moon I would suggest picking up one of the Ultra titles instead. Even if you have, the refinements to the existing systems, the more streamlined story and the vast small changes will keep you engaged and wanting to progress through the colourful land of Alola for many hours.

For newcomers or long-time Pokémon fans that didn't pick up the first outing to Alola, these are absolutely the versions to play. For those who made it through their Island Challenge last year, it's hard to recommend these games for their side-content alone. It's the definitive versions of the seventh generation Pokémon games, but not a whole lot more.

If you played Pokemon Sun/Moon, this sequel doesn't have much to offer. If not then this is the inclusive package for the whole Pokemon series.

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon aren't bad games, but they are victims of their own hype, which they fail to to live up to. While the plot has changed, these alterations are minor, thrown together, and ultimately do harm to the experience. Despite the addition of two new mini games, a few new features, and a different post-game, they are simply not as enjoyable as their Sun and Moon predecessors.

Its great to be back in Alola! These enhanced versions wrap up everything in the seventh generation. While Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon suffer some issues with its narrative, the game itself feels complete and as fun as you may remember.

This is still a very high quality project with excellent graphics by the standards of Nintendo 3DS, beautiful cutscenes, interesting battles and excellent music. If you have not played the original Sun / Moon, then now is a good chance to catch up. But if you went through last year's version, then the re-release is unlikely to make you happier.

Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon is a far superior version than Pokémon Sun and Moon with improved mechanics and some fun features plus new enemies to keep you invested. It's definitely a title for fans but is also one that is accessible by newcomers, especially if you want to know what the Pokémon craze is all about. At the end of the day, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon takes this franchise to new heights with fun gameplay and decent graphics.

Pokémon Ultrasun and Ultramoon are ultimately a bit more than a 2.0 version of the previous chapters, just released a year ago. Particularly interesting it's that you can review in action Lugia, Ho-Oh, Moltres, Zekrom and so on. Ultrasun and Ultramoon are far from being a farewell, apparently rather like a pleasant and enticing flirtatious goodbye.

The ultimate example of how to immediately remake a game and one of the best stories I've seen so far in Pokémon.

There's a couple of fun new features implemented in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, and it's the definitive edition for newcomers, but overall there's not enough to make it worth playing through again for veterans.
