While Call of Cthulhu suffers from some minor technical issues, and a few things could be better explained, this never impeded my ability to enjoy the game. With different choices, better ways to use my skill points, and the possibility that the terrifying survival level wouldn’t take me seven tries again, it could be just as entertaining a second time. It was scary enough that I fought not to have a panic attack alongside Edward every time we hid, well written so that even with so much previous knowledge of the universe I could enjoy the narrative, and was simply a joy to explore overall. Cyanide did justice to both the pen and paper RPG Call of Cthulhu is based on and H.P. Lovecraft.
Creating a "good" H.P Lovecraft game in 2018 is probably an impossible task, but Call of Cthulhu is a valiant effort.
Call of Cthulhu proves that Lovecraftian horror is still alive, as the role-playing game has players investigate mysterious events on their own terms through an interactive adventure. The story is creepy, unsettling, and fascinating to the point that it sucks you in and pulls you under. Despite some minor gameplay and design hiccups, Call of Cthulhu is an atmospheric mystery game worthy of H.P. Lovecraft himself.
An unpolished, but ultimately charming and engaging take on H. P. Lovecraft's most famous creation. A must for psychological horror fans.
While I was initially unsure what to expect at the game's outset, Call of Cthulhu is certainly recommended for fans of horror and mystery titles. Along with the satisfying detective work and wonderfully creepy narrative, the twists and turns in this game are quite something.

Call of Cthulhu is a harrowing descent into madness that excels thanks to a captivating story and eerie atmosphere.
For fans of mystery games and the lore of H.P. Lovecraft grab that Necronomicon and go nuts. For those who don’t fit into those categories, I’d recommend checking out a let’s play or two before diving into the madness.
If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft’s work then I feel this is one of the best experiences out there, simply because it loves its source material. Yes it’s a linear journey and you’ll struggle to find much in the way of replay value, but that’s okay because it’s a welcome breather from the huge open worlds that are dominating the games scene
Universum of H.P.Lovecraft is great, but this game is not very amusing, becouse it looks outdated and gameplay is mostly sterile.

It’s been a while since I played a game with a story that was so captivating, and it has a nice mix of RPG elements, investigation, and stealth to change the pace during your playthrough. Add to that the multiple endings that will warrant extra playthroughs, and you got yourself a great game with some nice replay value. Definitely one to play if you’re a fan of adventure games
I highly recommend everyone try Call of Cthulhu, especially fans of Telltale Games or story driven RPGs.
Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Game isn’t a horror masterpiece, but it is an experience worth having. Mostly following the trope of other games, it does nothing to differentiate itself from other investigative horror titles, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. All of the aspects combined form a game that is faithful to both Chaosium’s table-top classic, and the Lovecraft universe in general. Fans of one or both have a real treat on their hands with this one. With a well written narrative, interesting gameplay, great use of RPG mechanics, tense horror, and multiple possible outcomes, Cyanide Studio have given us a horror game that justifies the price tag.
While Call of Cthulhu has the confidence to keep you involved, it never ever leads to anything bountiful, leaving you with a game that doesn't offer enough.
In the end Call of Cthulu is a deeply disappointing game, because those opening hours showed such promise. If developer Cyanide had just stuck to the bits that work – the investigation – we'd have ended up with a better game. Instead of descending into madness, it descends into tedium.

Call of Cthulhu is a unique creepy horror detective RPG that takes Lovecraftian inspiration to a new level. It may not compare visually to current AAA games but does well to provide a captivating narrative and a mix of methods to keep players drawn in such as puzzles and stealth. One playthrough takes anywhere between 12 or more hours depending on your level of attention to clues and your detective abilities. Would recommend a second or even third playthrough to truly find out all the hidden secrets.
Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game had me engrossed start to finish, even if it's ending was predictable. Unfortunately it is held back by not having a unique story direction or a commitment to more consistent and fulfilling gameplay mechanics. It's undercooked but an easily digestible Cthulhu adventure for fans of the genre. A fun Saturday afternoon in a psychological horror show.
