Hide and Shriek isn’t a game that will be recalled in the annals of video gaming history, but it is such a unique and enjoyable experience that it’s difficult not to recommend, especially to anyone who adores Halloween and the season’s general tone.
If you’re looking for some quick, simply, local multiplayer fun, prefer the old Mario Party mechanics, or want a board game that isn’t boring, Mario Party Star Rush won’t let you down.
Overall, there’s a lot of personality bursting out from the game.
Batman: The TellTale Series feels like it gives you the chance to make a lot of important feeling decisions, but sometimes it’s in situations that immediately feel contrived. Later use of them may slightly help redeem them, and choices that continue themes of the game — personal vs. private life, justice vs. vengeance, society vs. the individual– still feel relevant, it’s just a shame that the plot’s seams sometimes become very exposed.
The expansion brings with it some of the best innovations that the game has seen in several years. Not to mention all of those dungeons. Yes, ALL of the dungeons. Let’s not even get into the gear. Bottom line, there’s a lot of fun to be had here and it’s going to keep you busy for a long time. If you play Everquest 2, get this expansion. Now.
I've enjoyed For Honor immensely and I'm still looking for spare time to play it for a few more hours. The game is beautiful, the fighting is satisfying, and having a decent challenge for once just makes the experience all that more rewarding.
While I enjoy the slower, peaceful tracks for grinding, there is quite a bit of similarity between many of them, which can make the overall soundtrack feel repetitive. Additionally, the constant 'thud' sound effect from striking enemies is enough to drive anyone mad. I recommend turning the music up and the SFX down, unless you happen to be streaming your own music in the background.
Overall, Dawn of War 3 is fun. As usual the multiplayer is where players will likely spend most of their time. I don't think it completely lives up to the previous games in the series, as Dawn of War 1 did larger scale strategy better, and Dawn of War 2 had a much more thrilling campaign. However, it is definitely refreshing to get back into the 40k universe in a way that feels mostly familiar.
Even for those who own the original Mario Kart 8, after re-evaluating my score, I'd still give the game an 8 overall, and I think that says a lot about what's actually in the game. Plus, we have the Splatoon inklings, Zelda's Link, and Animal Crossing characters available altogether now, without being in a Smash Bros game. Really, what more do you want?
Killing Floor 2 does a good job of being an enjoyable wave shooter for those looking for some gory goodness. And while it does offer something for the casual audience, it also has something for team shooter enthusiasts who want to really see how far their skills will get them.
StarBreak is a game that I really want to enjoy, but it's impossible to look past its glaring flaws. If it was still being actively developed, I could easily recommend it for anyone who enjoys platformers or permadeath MMOs, but it's impossible to know how long the game will even stay operational. However, it is completely free and can be played through the game's website, or Steam, so very little is lost by simply giving it a try.
To summarize, 'Sweet Shop' is a great addition to the franchise that has a few areas needing improvement. Shop customization and 'World Challenge' are great additions, however, the multiplayer is lacking. Overall, it should be a great addition for fans of the Cooking Mama series or a nice introduction for younger gamers.
If you're into building games, Portal Knights may disappoint you. It offers much less than similar titles and does a bad job of figuring out what kind of game it truly is
Morrowind has a little something for everyone, but it's hard to justify the price for those who don't plan on experiencing everything it has to offer.
If you own a Switch, this is a must buy, especially if you already bought up everything for MK8D. It's Nintendo reminding us they know how to do fun, even if the online community is still lagging behind. If you're on the fence about investing in Nintendo again, I'm starting to feel like now is the time to get in.
Paladins is a very fun game, and while it does share a vast amount of similarities with Overwatch (I still felt the need to address this), outside the blue rectangular shield, rocket launcher, and chained hooks, Paladins is a whole game of its own. It's a fun champion-based shooter that's sure to win you over with its own take at the currently popular genre.
There has never been a better time to check out Heroes of the Storm or come back to it. I strongly suggest you give it a look!
Telltale games are always great money for their value. You're essentially buying a couple of movie tickets but get a much more personal experience. Combined with Crowd Play, the value goes up, as you can enjoy the game solo and later share it with a friend while playing together.
Stormblood is another heaping helping of what Final Fantasy XIV offers the MMORPG genre. It's set in its ways and is absolutely confident with providing fans with more of the things they already love. With an MMORPG experience this good, that's hard to find fault in.
I can't stress enough just how delightful this new class is. It's every reason I've fallen for this game in a hyper-gothic wrapper. If you're already invested in Diablo 3, nothing I've written here is really going to change your mind as you've probably already gotten the pack. If you've never played Diablo 3 before, or are maybe not sure about whether this pack is worth it, I assure you that it most definitely is.
