If you’re looking for a genre-defining samurai game, you won’t find it here with Rise of the Ronin. Despite its run of the mill open world formula and last-generation graphics, Rise of the Ronin’s commendable accessibility options, fascinating historical backdrop, and addictively refined combat allow it to reach an audience far more than Team Ninja’s titles did before, for better or for worse.
Pepper Grinder is a great platformer with smooth gameplay and a nostalgic, pixelated art style. It’s a fantastic game to play and has the potential to go down as one of the best indie games of this year. If you’re searching for a new platformer game to play, this is the one.
Although the roguelike format of Snow Day is designed to keep you coming back for more, I found myself struggling to find a reason to return to reply after beating a level. There are some cosmetic items to unlock and maybe a few weapons you didn’t try out, but that’s not enough. Snow Day is a blast to play, and you can’t beat the price! But it could use a bit more to keep players engaged for the long haul. With some extra content and incentives to keep players coming back, it has the potential to be a standout game. As it is, it’s a great option for fans of South Park and roguelike games, but it might not keep you hooked for a long time. Overall, it’s a solid choice, but with a few tweaks, it could be even better.
Highwater falls short of its lofty ambitions. The story elements and exploration lack depth, failing to evoke any emotional resonance. For those seeking a captivating journey through a sunken city, the game disappoints with its linear progression and limited opportunities for exploration. However, for enthusiasts of turn-based combat intertwined with a modest narrative, Highwater may offer some appeal.
Outcast – A New Beginning holds an undeniable amount of allure despite being an extremely janky and overpriced double-A game. It offers an interesting world with a mix of old-school charm and modern gameplay mechanics. The jetpack traversal is addictive and the weapon modding system is refreshing. However, it’s clear this game will definitely not appeal to everyone, even if you’re a fan of the 1999 original.
Taxi Life stands out as a compelling fusion of simulator and arcade driving game, with fun challenges that feel right out of Crazy Taxi or Midtown Madness, providing players with a unique and immersive journey through the streets of Barcelona while managing their taxi empire, I just wish it had slightly better controls, as this is the main focal point of the game, and takes away from the experience greatly. The game’s price tag at $30 USD is also a bit more than I’d pay for a game like this, and to me feels like it would do better in the $14.99-$19.99 range. And don’t get me started on the overpriced DLC packs.
Alone in the Dark, despite its aspirations, falls short of delivering a cohesive and captivating experience. The disjointed narrative, coupled with lackluster gameplay mechanics, detracts from what could have been a triumphant return to form. While it may offer moments of enjoyment, it ultimately fails to recapture the essence of its predecessors, leaving fans yearning for the chilling embrace of true horror. As the credits roll, it becomes apparent that Alone in the Dark, for all its ambition, remains but a shadow of its former self, a tantalizing glimpse into what could have been.
Rainbow Moon for the Nintendo Switch is a solid addition to the RPG genre, with a unique battle system and engaging story. While it may not be a completely “definitive” experience, it offers a unique battle system, engaging story, and beautiful visuals. The “added balance customization features” may not be revolutionary, but they do offer some new ways for players to customize their characters and approach combat. Overall, Rainbow Moon is a great addition to the Nintendo Switch’s lineup of RPGs.
WWE 2K24 is the Wrestling game of all Wrestling games and puts the recent AEW game to shame with the number of modes and matches and the amount of polish to gameplay upgrades.

Manic Mechanics is an engaging game that brings a fresh spin to the beloved couch co-op formula that players of the game Overcooked might be familiar with. While it may not be the most sophisticated game in its genre, it’s a fantastic addition to any gathering or party, as the game’s mechanics and quirky challenges will have you and your friends laughing and strategizing together as you work to become the ultimate mechanics of Octane Isle.
The Outlast Trials takes its bone-chilling horror and extends it to a multiplayer aspect. The series retains its horror roots that scare you at every turn. Completing missions also makes you feel like you are improving, giving you goals to work towards. However, part of the fear is dampened when you realize that failure isn’t as painful as it used to be. Missions also take a long time, subtly encouraging you to play with friends.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake takes an already remarkable game with an incredible and emotional story and elevates it to new heights. With its breathtaking visuals, emotional soundtrack, and engaging gameplay, the remake is a testament to the power of storytelling in video games. Whether you’re experiencing the game for the first time or revisiting this timeless tale, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is a must-play for any fan of narrative-driven games.
Robin Hood: Sherwood Builders is a disappointing game that fails to deliver on its potential. In short, Winter Survival is a disappointing and frustrating experience. If you’re looking for a challenging and engaging survival experience, stick with “The Long Dark” and skip what feels like a lackluster imitation at this time. I believe with more polish the game could stand out more and become a better experience, but the building and crafting won’t help win over an already loyal fan base to the genre, and that of The Long Dark.
