Frontier Days could have been a great title on the Switch if they spent some real time to develop it. The fast paced nature of the game can be fun at times, but it's ultimately rage inducing because the game is not optimized for the style of game that it's trying to be. If you got $10 to kill and you really want a town builder on the go, it might be worth checking out. Otherwise it's not worth your time.

This could maybe include both, which is a shame because all the surrounding systems are fantastic and well done. Overall the game feels like it took an exciting leap toward greatness but ended up tripping up the landing, only to fall backward into the mediocrity hole right behind it.

Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live is super disappointing. At its $40 price point there should be some real meat to experience, but it falls far beyond short. In good conscience, I can not tell you to buy this even tho it is not broken in any way. From a pure content standpoint, it does not warrant the price at all. This is a shame, because there is huge potential here, and if this fails the likelihood of a complete Miku VR experience showing up later on is likely zero.

I want to love this game so bad, but I just can't.

The prospect of all these mechanics coming together was something fresh, but it quickly turned into a long and boring grind that was 100% over inflated for no reason. The story puts the final nail of mediocrity into it’s coffin.

Wonder Boy is a beautiful game built on the foundation of a classic, but that's just it, a foundation. Wonder Boy is almost a glorified painting at its core. It's beautiful and worth looking at, but won't be worth owning for most gamers. The core of the game is ok, but not amazing, and it never was. It could have been so much more with some work, but when they aimed to mirror the original 1 for 1, it limited all possibility for it to be something more.

At the end of the day, Playstation VR Worlds is great for what it is outside of the VR Luge game which can be easily passed over. Every game or experience has something unique to it, but is desperately clawing to be something more. It would have been great to see these things fleshed out, but it also shows at the early stages of Playstation VR, that it has the tools to make something great. If you have a PSVR I would say to check it out.

It's a brilliant first attempt, but that does not make it a great game.

7 / 10.0 - Final Fantasy XV
Dec 7, 2016

The first is an amazingly interesting world-exploration game filled with great characters, interesting concepts, with the potential to expand; or a nonsensical, linear story game that feels it does not need to explain major portions of itself and leaves the player asking themselves "Why?" constantly. The world exploration, side quests, hunts, and clever travel banter is worth the purchase but the main story is not.

Metroid: Samus Returns is a fairly competent game completely neutered by the device it's locked to and lazy design choices.

Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 is an amazingly well crafted action platformer, it’s just not a well written one. Spirit art is amazing, and game-play is fun once you struggle to figure it out what does what. This could have been an amazing game if they took the time to explain major elements of how it works and as well as the story.

7.5 / 10.0 - Job Simulator
Dec 10, 2016

There is some replayability if played in groups, which makes the experience a lot better. Even with its shortcomings, and suffering from the issues that new tech normally faces, Job Simulator is cute and charming. If you are looking for something for the whole family to enjoy on Playstation VR or HTC Vive, this is most likely your best option.

7.8 / 10.0 - Furi
Nov 2, 2016

Furi is a whirlwind of amazing art and music, mixed with brutal gameplay that will not be enjoyable or accessible to most gamers when it comes to directly playing the game. For those who are skilled enough to take on the challenge, the game will be immensely rewarding.

8 / 10.0 - Heart&Slash

This game is a perfect example of what a Kickstarter games should be. The controls are responsive, it looks amazing, and they understood their scope of production. A great Rougelike that can appeal to so many different aspects of other action genres, it makes for a good entry point of roguelike gaming. Hands down, this has to be one of the best games to come out of Kickstarter, and one of the better roguelikes release.

EVE: Valkyrie is an amazingly strong launch title for the Playstation VR, and VR in general. While being light on multiplayer maps and story missions you can easily find yourself lost in the experience, not even noticing that you have sunk a full day into playing the game. This is a VR title that will stay on my shelf and serve as a benchmark on how to competently make a VR experience.

8 / 10.0 - Ironcast
Aug 25, 2017

Ironcast is a fun game with great mechanics, set in an interesting world. The game really does not reflect the time frame, but is enjoyable none the less when you move past some of the story and setup elements. Game is a bit short but for the price tag, it's worth picking up.

8.5 / 10.0 - Tekken 7
Jun 10, 2017

Tekken 7 is a well crafted technical fighter that tries to do some experimentation while not sacrificing core gameplay to do so. A lot of the little add-ins seemed like fun ideas the dev team wanted to play with, and did so in a way that respects the players, be them Evo champions or noobs to the series. At the end of the day, it's all about the fight, and the fight is good.
