Bravely Second: End Layer schafft es zwar nicht die Geschichte des Vorgängers zu toppen und recycled doch einiges an Schauplätze, überzeugt aber trotz allem mit einem umfangreichen Aufgebot an Klassen und Ausrüstungsmöglichkeiten. Vor allem die Chemie zwischen den Charakteren und die Art und Weise wie sich die Entwickler in Bravely Second teilweise sogar selbst parodieren, ist mal wieder großartig ausgefallen und wird vor allem Fans des Vorgängers wieder in seinen Bann ziehen.

Severed begeistert mit einem frischen Design und einer absolut gelungenen Touchscreen Steuerung. Der Titel wird zwar Rätsel und RPG Fans eher wenig fordern und wird euch unterwegs teilweise komische Blicke von den Menschen um euch herum bringen, aber ansonsten können Severed eigentlich jeden Besitzer empfehlen. Vor allem wenn ihr eine spannende Geschichte erleben wollt und keine Angst vor etwas abstrakten Design-Ideen habt.

Civilization 6 präsentiert sich nach dem doch etwas schwächeren Beyond Earth wieder als solider Ableger der Serie und überzeugt mit einigen netten Gameplay Neuerungen und der gewohnten „Just one more turn“ Sucht. Die furchtbare KI bleibt die größte und bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten, auch einzige Schwäche von Civilization 6. Sowohl Neueinsteiger als auch Veteranen werden hier auf jeden Fall ihren Spaß haben.

Monster Hunter Generations kombiniert das beste aus der Serie mit netten und teilweise flauschigen Neuerungen, schafft es aber immer noch einen wirklich angenehmen Start für Neulinge zu bieten und unterliegt den Limitierungen durch den 3DS. Monster Hunter Veteranen können hier ohne Bedenken zugreifen und trotz schlechter Tutorials, bietet Generations immer noch einen der besten Einstiege in die Serie.

Battlefield 1 ist eine gelungene Abwechslung und liefert eine der bisher besten Kampagnen der Serie und einen soliden Multiplayer, mit ein paar netten Neuerungen. Die Kampagne wirkt zwar etwas zu Hollywood-Like inszeniert und fällt dieses mal sehr kurz aus, aber ansonsten bietet Battlefield 1 wieder mal ein umfangreiches Gesamtpaket für Shooter-Fans. Auch in Sachen Seaons Pass bleibt noch die Frage offen, ob sich kommende Inhalte wirklich für so einen hohen Aufpreis lohnen werden.

Dishonored 2 ist eine unglaublich gelungene Fortsetzung, die vor allem ihre Stärken im Gameplay und der umfangreichen Welt ausspielt. Leider geht durch den Einsatz von zwei spielbaren Charakteren die Story etwas unter und auch die Gegner KI lässt einen meistens von reinen Schleich-Einlagen, auf ein Massaker umschalten, aber ansonsten hat Arkane Studios hier alles richtig gemacht und liefert einen der wohl besten Stealth-Titeln der letzten Jahre.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole comes with the quality you'd expect from the show and besides some repetitive Riddles it delivers a solid South Park Experience and an entertaining story. Tactical RPG Fans will miss some challenge and some more thought out upgrade mechanics would've been nice but it's definitely the funniest game of the year.

Pokémon Sonne und Mond konzentrieren sich anfangs etwas zu sehr darauf es Einsteiger leicht zu machen, bieten aber im späteren Spielverlauf doch einiges an Herausforderung und Überraschungen für Fans der Serie. Nach Pokémon Go könnte Sonne und Mond es endlich wieder schaffen auch Oldschool Pokémon Fans zu begeistern. Bei uns hat es auf jeden Fall funktioniert und daher gibt es eine klare Empfehlung von uns an alle Pokémon Fans.

Resident Evil 7 doesn't reinvent the Wheel but delivers enough gameplay Features and Horror-Elements to get Oldschool Fans back to the series. It's also probably the best PlayStation VR Game so far.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy offers a well made remaster of three classic ps one titles (if you can live with missing extra content and some long loading screens). Newcomers and Oldschool Crash Fans alike will be brought to their limits and get a great graphical update besides the rewards the trilogy already had to offer.

Wenn man das Gesamtbild betrachtet, dann ist Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age sehr gut gealtert. Auch 11 Jahre später überzeugt der wohl kontroverseste Ableger der Reihe mit einer spannenden Story und optisch beeindruckendem Stil! Während es damals undenkbar war, dass Kämpfe in Final Fantasy in Echtzeit ablaufen, ist es heute mittlerweile Gang und Gäbe. Auch zahlreiche Elemente fanden sich später in der erfolgreichen Trilogie von XIII 1-3 sowie dem aktuellsten Ableger, Teil XV wieder. Auch wenn sich das damals in den Verkaufszahlen leider nicht wie erhofft wiedergespiegelt hat, so lässt sich nun Jahre später zurecht behaupten, dass Final Fantasy XII seiner Zeit voraus war und zurecht einen Platz in dieser epochalen und einzigartigen Spieleserie verdient hat.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 returns to old strength with a solid portion of realism and a phenomenal visual presentation. The AI could be a bit better on the defense and also the tactical menu in-game feels kinda outdated but besides that fans of soccer simulations will get the series again at their best.

Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds is a successful Expansion of an amazing game that could have used a bit more variety and is sadly making the same mistakes from the main game. The great balancing and the new challenges will still entertain fans of the game in the usual quality and offer new replay value.

Monster Hunter World exceeds all expectations and presents itself as one of the best entries of the series so far. Besides some minor issues with a overloaded UI and some questionable help mechanics the game manages to keep you on enjoying the grind and is definitely the best title in the series for newcomers.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is definitely the most beautiful RPG of this year so far. The little details, the great side stories, every little npc and the wonderful animations also makes the second entry of the series an amazing experience. Even if the recruiting of people sometimes feel like a painful chore and the tactical parts of the gameplay doesn't always shine, the rest of the games features make you forget about it.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 manages easily to compensate the missing singleplayer campaign with lots of multiplayer goodness and a battle royale mode that shouldn't be afraid of fortnite or pubg. The Class Campaigns could be better and some of the recycled elements of the previous games aren't that well integrated but besides that fans of the series will get an amazing multiplayer package with a great zombie mode on top of it all.

Just Cause 4 offers the most diverse and beautiful Playground of the Series so far and finally optimized some parts from Just Cause 3 like the generic enemies and repeated order of missions. The Apex Engine delivers an amazing performance (PC Version) and we can recommend this game even with its unfinished cutscenes and a lot of arduous NPC accompanying missions.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey surprises with probably the best storyline of the series so far that takes you with major decision options and strong protagonists through a well made Ancient Greece. The different story arcs and different endings are well integrated and even the often necessary grind is lightened up through the deep personalities of Kassandra and Alexios. The Game and the series could still use some better balancing for the progression during the game and the fights but besides that Odyssey takes the right steps forward for the series.

Octopath Traveler meets the high expectations and delivers despite some minor balancing issues and tiresome boss fights an amazing RPG experience for old and new fans of the genre. The incredible variety of possible actions and ways to go through the story and the extensive battle system are making this game a must-buy for everyone that owns a Nintendo Switch.

Devil May Cry looks extremly stylish thanks to the RE Engine and it also plays the same with lots of variety. Besides a bit to classic ending for the story and a carelessly integrated online feature long-time Fans and newcomers alike will get an amazing package filled with the usual Devil May Cry action paired with lots of new gameplay elements and a well-made atmosphere.
