Blake Hawthorn's Reviews
ShockRods is a disappointing game that was made with a lot of oversight. While most of the issues can be resolved with software updates and DLC maps, the base game costs £20 and you are getting what is essentially a half baked game.
This game is absolutely not fun, the only appeal to this game is if you want to go abroad but don't care about the beaches or the actual holiday part.
While this review is hugely negative, the premise behind this game was a great one. While the execution wasn't great I believe that this game came out of the door too early, if the game had been delayed until later this year who knows if it would if had the same issues as it does now. Out Of Ammo is plagued with bugs and other issues, the core game is still there. While there isn't a huge amount of content to sink your teeth into, there are some fun moments to be had especially with a friend.
While Oh My Godheads may be fun with friends at a party, it just loses all of its value when it comes to playing against the AI. With the lack of any online multiplayer or real single player, this game loses all of its replay value in a matter of hours.
While Max: The Curse Of Brotherhood does have a good story, it has too many downfalls to forgive. The platforming just isn't up to par, and the checkpoints will have you throwing your controller at a wall in no time.
Outriders is a boring game to play solo, with a lack of any real end-game content and bugs that may wipe all of your progress it's probably best to wait for a sale for this one.
Harvest Moon: One World is quite fun when played for the first 20+ hours. However, the lack of relatable characters definitely stands out here. The game also stumbles after completing the story to pull me back into the game for a long play session.
Story Of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is an okay farming game but if you are expecting giant changes to the already worn out formula then you should look elsewhere.
While Super Meat Boy Forever is a good game, it really doesn't compare to the original sense of precision movement and extreme difficulty that stuck out to the fans.
Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus is a fun title but the main issues from the PC version are still very much present on the console version and it seriously hindered my enjoyment of the game. n.
Overall, Cyberpunk 2077 is a fun game that is plagued by bugs. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this game in its current state, but with patches this should improve.
I quite enjoyed the time I spent with Crysis Remastered. The game does hold up well to this day however the performance issues and the frustrating AI really hindered my enjoyment.
Overall my time in Disintegration was a fun one, however it just left something to be desired in terms of shooting, or the RTS mechanics, I really hope that if there is a sequel to this game that they drastically improve the shooting mechanics. Multiplayer is fun and I can't wait to spend more time with it.
Overall I enjoyed my time with Rust, it may need a few updates and features to really stand out, but even at this level the game is a strong contender in the survival game genre.
Jurassic World Evolution: Complete Edition may not be the prettiest game in the world on the Switch but the sheer amount of content and the overall enjoyment of it does make up for the visuals and even the performance.
Overall this title may not blow your socks off, but it's definitely worth giving a go if you enjoy games of this genre. Whilst there are negatives I pointed out in this review, it is still a decent mech game and gives you a decent lengthy game of killing robots.
While I didn't have the best experience playing this title online, I did have a ton of fun playing against the AI. This title is one of those that is brilliant for parties but is also great for just playing by yourself or online with friends.
UFC 3's career mode is where you will spend the majority of your time first, however after beating this you have a choice you can either spend all of your money on ultimate team or you can play online or single-player. The ultimate team mode is so microtransactions heavy that it left a bad taste in my mouth.
Chaos On Deponia is a fun game, albeit with its flaws. The story is fun and is a nice adventure for families to enjoy together. The writing here is okay and the puzzles are fun but way too easy, they lack the depth that other games from this genre have. Overall you may enjoy this story if you have children and they are looking for their first video game experience, otherwise I would avoid picking this game up if you are expecting a great adventure like the Double Fine games.
Shiness:The Lightning Kingdom is a reach too far for a small indie studio to handle and it shows. While the game plays well and looks fantastic, the lack of a decent story shows that the developers were under tight budget and time restraints. If they would have had more time and money I believe that Shiness could had easily been a better game. While Shiness has some positives like the overall design and the combat, the lack of a compelling story ruined the experience.
