Although far from being revolutionary, Kena Bridge of Sprits is a compelling action-adventure game with an heart-warming hero and really cute creatures to play with. Ember Lab put in this game all their experience in character design and animation, giving us a splendid – but also somewhat repetitive – cartoon movie to play with.

8.5 / 10.0 - Children of Morta
Sep 4, 2019

Behind Children of Morta's pixel art, lies an excellent hack'n'slash which has little to envy to the pillars of the genre. The RPG aspect is well defined, and the growth of the characters is never trivial.

8.6 / 10.0 - Akka Arrh

The coin operated "classic which has never been" comes back to life thanks to one of the most visionary and iconic game designers of the 80s. And it's gorgeous.

A great game that shows what R-Type could be like, if only it was coded in 1958! Blast the freaking aliens like it there's no tomorrow, with this stunning shoot 'em up action in black & white, with great FMV intros in every level.

A complex, amazing Zelda-style action adventure set in a beautifully crafted world with plenty of towns, creatures, buildings, shops and NPCs. There's a lot to discover and a lot to play, although some mechanics might feel dated to younger players. The game suffers from some still-to-be-fixed bugs which can be annoying. Overall, NAPS Team did a great job, and brought us a game that Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli could have done themselves.

8.6 / 10.0 - R-Type Final 2
Apr 29, 2021

R-Type Final 2 is an aesthetically brilliant 'reboot' of the classic arcade game by Irem Corporation. Old players will feel at home, either when approaching the game with the strategies of the past, or when they try to change habits by exploring the new possibilities offered by the game.

8.6 / 10.0 - Spacebase Startopia
Mar 26, 2021

Spacebase Startopia is a next-generation reboot of an amazing, 20-years old sci-fi strategy game, with the same approach to gameplay but a fairly renewed graphics style, perfectly fitting the funny dark humour that pervades our star bases. It's incredible how Spacebase Startopia manages to look modern even today: further proof that good ideas never get old.

8.6 / 10.0 - Warparty
Mar 28, 2019

Warparty offers the right compromise between the immediacy of the first RTS games and the depth of the last representatives of the genre, putting every element in the right place and carrying out its task in an excellent way.

8.7 / 10.0 - Infernax
Mar 7, 2022

Infernax is the heir to Castlevania (the NES one) that I didn't know I craved, but it was almost impossible to break away from once I started playing! Equipped with an interesting storyline, highly enjoyable pixel art graphics and an electrifying soundtrack, Infernax gets completed over and over again to the rhythm of "Another game and that's it", accompanying the player with an intelligent progression of pace and difficulty. Not really cheap for an indie game, but it's worth the price.

8.7 / 10.0 - Noita
Oct 29, 2020

Original, challenging and incredibly deep, Noita is a roguelike capable of surprising every time you launch a new game. If you like tough challenges and love this genre of games, Noita is really for you. It doesn't cost much and guarantees plenty of hours of exploration, disruption, killing and fun. But beware: it's tough. Really tough!

Another Sight deals with a difficult subject such as blindness through a skilful realization, various mechanics, beautiful graphics and an evocative soundtrack. Highly recommended.

8.8 / 10.0 - Starfield
Aug 31, 2023

Starfield is for cautious and patient explorers, not for those who want everything right away. The beginning of the story is rather bland, the sense of estrangement at the highest levels. But as the fog clears, you can sense and appreciate all its potential and the free will left to the player, who really has a thousand things to do as he wants and when he prefers, perhaps leaving the continuation of a mission to better times (and statistics). On the other hand, the slowness of movements on the ground and small design defects have their weight and, albeit reluctantly, this must be taken into account in the global assessment, which remains high in anticipation of future developments. Maybe a few more weeks of playtest would have benefited him.

8.8 / 10.0 - One Many Nobody

A cool puzzle-platformer where cloning and killing ourselves is mandatory to reach our goals, with nice looking pixel art graphics and a great atmosphere.

Undemanding and decidedly enjoyable, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a light-hearted and often cartoon-like Action JRPG which is really fun to spend your time with. Of course, you don't have to have anything against going back and forth a thousand times in the same places, to do the same things again and again, because in this case appreciating it would be quite difficult. The visual quality is really impressive and I really liked the mix of backdrops in (very rich) 3D and two-dimensional pixelated characters, and I can't get the music out of my head. In short, a good game: not essential but absolutely enjoyable.

8.8 / 10.0 - Days Gone
May 18, 2021

Days Gone provides a good challenge and an interesting story, which should make PC users really happy about this port from PS4. Technically speaking, it's a fairly good game with excellent graphics, a good soundtrack and expected stability. Some little quirks here and there, but it will keep you busy slaughtering monsters for a while.

Syberia: The World Before gave me back that sense of wonder that I felt, twenty years ago, with the first two episodes and, for this reason alone, for me it is a "yes" as big as an apartment building.

Booknound Brigade, just like the books from which it draws inspiration, can become an excellent travel companion: a challenging metroidvania with clear mechanics, amusing and intelligent in its many ideas.

9.1 / 10.0 - Borderlands 3
Sep 17, 2019

It makes no sense to focus on small flaws: Borderlands 3 is a great game, with charisma and great replayability, with four characters to look into, lots of sub-quests to deal with and a future DLC that could shine to the full.

Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition for PC is an add-on that enables advanced ray tracing effects and it works only on RT-ready video cards from AMD and Nvidia. While it does look impressive on PC, it may be more interesting for next-gen console users, since it makes the most of advanced graphic capabilities of PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
