Tchia is a love story of the New Caledonia region and its people. The gameplay is fun and pretty satisfying, with many quests for the player to complete and collectables to find. The soul mechanic sets you up for some very weird and interesting solutions to puzzles or circumstances in Tchia, and it’s my favourite thing about the game. If exploring a beautiful island is your thing, too, you will enjoy playing this game.

Few open worlds offer an experience as unique and distinct as Tchia, a game with a personality as overwhelming as its own world or the mechanics it proposes. Even with its flaws and technical aspects that can be improved, it is a game that deserves a chance, as soon as you go to the games in the open world.

Tchia is like diving into a warm, clear ocean. You can see so much that’s amazing around you, a whole world you want to be part of and can feel immersed in by doing nothing more than looking. It’s not going to occupy you for hundreds of hours, and it’s not going to revolutionize games as we know them, but that’s okay. If you let it, this experience can enrich your life in ways few things can.

Awaceb's open world sandbox and serene vistas capture the splendor of a tropical vacation, but certain design tropes eventually make progress feel like a chore.

Tchia, is a decent experience that despite its failures, manages to prove itself from the very first moment with the player and this is not mentioned more than what it can offer.

Tchia feels like an educational project in a form of a gorgeous game that uses different systems and mechanics to tell its meaningful story.

Tchia certainly wanted to be a bigger, more distinctive game than it is, I have no doubt that it was created with noble motives, but in the end it unfortunately feels like a half-baked advertising game promoting New Caledonia through loving images and excellent music, but with no real sense of enrichment in it.

There are a few frustrating and/or shallow elements in what could be a truly wholesome game. But there's also this beautiful world full of adventures and a great atmosphere. Overall, Tchia is one of the best open-world games that I've played in a while.

It’s a casual experience, with some fantastic exploration, diverse challenges and tasks, a rich setting, and a surprisingly deep story. The entire game has been lovingly crafted and steeped in lore from New Caledonia. The only thing keeping Tchia out of the realm of greatness are the amount of bugs affecting it, at least on the PC version. With that being said, I wholeheartedly recommend playing it, as long as you either play it on a console, or wait until they’ve patched up the bugs on the PC version.

The experience proposed by Tchía is very interesting and fun, a small open world full of possibilities that drinks directly from the Zelda saga and tells a story that will fall in love

Rare are the games where the love of the developers shines through so much in their work, butTchia is an excellent example. It's an ode to New Caledonia that manages to convey to the player the desire to continue exploring this island region, spending time in nature and enjoying the daily encounters we make. Tchia, ultimately, is not about our need to prove our skills, but rather to recognize the value in what surrounds us and to make room for simple pleasures. And for that... Oleti, Awaceb!

Tchia shines at its best when you are immersed in its laidback, breezy islands with the peaceful music taking over, unwinding and relaxing while exploring the many secrets of the archipelago. All in all a solid indie adventure that gives homage to a beautiful culture, enriching and teaching you about them in the process.

It has its annoying flaws, but if you're looking for a peaceful and calm game to breathe when you're overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of gaming and life, give it a shot.

Tchia is a highly enjoyable and varied coming-of-age adventure game with a ton to see and do. The possession mechanic is a ton of fun, the sights and sounds are undeniably attractive, and it has a good dose of dark humour to top it all off.

One of the best post-Breath Of The Wild open world adventures, but while the game's heavily influenced by Zelda it ultimately plumps for amiable exploration over more rugged adventure.

Tchia is an open world with many scenic settings to discover and just as many activities in which to engage while interacting with the Caledonian culture. The Soul Jump is one of the best features of the game, which, however, despite a well-told story risks to slip into boredom due to an almost complete absence of combat.

It’s a little bittersweet to think about the fact that I am now done with Tchia’s story. It’s been a while since I’ve played such an original game with so much culture. I actually feel compelled to commend it for how much it surprised me. Its storyline was dark but heartwarming, the cast was diverse and colorful (if not a little undeveloped), and the gameplay had me engaged for hours by letting me do something as simple as transforming into a fish. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone who is a fan of open-world adventure games and is looking for a fresh perspective. If anything, it’s a must-play just to experience the amount of love and detail the creators packed into it. There is also just so much to do that I feel it’s totally worth it for the price.

Tchia celebrates the curiosity of stumbling upon something unseen while out exploring the wilderness. It might not make you feel the way you did as a child yourself, but it does as good a job as any title can.
