Most of all Pikmin 4 is just an exceptionally polished game that’s the pinnacle of the series to date and you can feel the love and attention poured into every inch of it. Pikmin 4 is the most ambitious Pikmin entry to date, and truly feels like an endeavour worthy of the 10-year wait.

I don’t want to spoil any more of the experience. I went from liking Pikmin to loving Pikmin with Pikmin 4. It’s just one of those games that I think is near flawless. It may have lost some of its difficulty, but I think all the things we gained in exchange are worth it.

Even after the credits roll in Pikmin 4, there’s a bit more to the story and brand new areas to explore. From the delightfully textured world that’s brimming with secrets to the tiniest details, like how your Pikmin will occasionally sing classic Pikmin songs when riding Oatchi, Nintendo has packed the game with enough personality and whimsy that it could easily keep fans happy for another ten years. Of course, we certainly hope Pikmin 5 will come a lot sooner.

Pikmin 4 is an enchanting and expansive adventure, perfect for kids and kids-at-heart alike. It sets the bar high for young players, offering an easy-to-learn gameplay experience that promises endless fun. Like most good Nintendo games, it backloads the substantially challenging content after the credits, but even before that, gamers are going to have a fun time getting to that point.

Its urge for exploration is everywhere and really helps to distinguish this away from other Switch titles. While at the same time the cuteness of the characters feels very Nintendo. A top effort.

The pace of the game is high and steady in challenges, with few dead moments, no intrusive or drying dialogue. It is a direct and intense game in the missions, able to remember the catadupa of events and challenges of a Mario Galaxy, for example. And at the same time it is delightful in art, in a very planetary sphere and at the same time human and realistic, and also possessing an appreciable physics, although here and there with some frame rate breaks, which fortunately little or nothing affect the gameplay. There is almost a commotion when we leave behind these creatures, so essential in the multiple rescue missions, but it is possible to return to the PNF-404, with the salvation Otchin, for another dandori missions, in which organization and efficiency are essential for success. It's nice when a game exudes a message as well.

All things considered, however, these are not major deal-breakers for Pikmin 4. The feeling that you should do as much as you possibly can is what this game excels at doing better than any other aspect. It’s a lot more fun to play through these places. It is another good addition to the Pikmin series, albeit with a few flaws that slightly bring the total score down. Despite this, it easily ranks as one of the most impressive games released for the Nintendo Switch in a long time, if not The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

As I was playing through Pikmin 4 and things really started to click, I thought to myself (with a smile on my face) – “I just want to play this forever.” It’s a strategically satisfying game if you want it to be, and it’s a chill rainy-day adventure if you’re going for that vibe.

It’s been ten years since Pikmin 3 and twenty-two years since the original game. While it might not be a household name, Pikmin is one of Nintendo’s most consistent titles. Each game gets better and better, but might be overlooked simply because of the look or design of the characters. Given all four games are now available on Nintendo Switch, if you have any interest in the series, what’s a better time since it all culminates in the best game in the series, Pikmin 4.

It is expected that some series will show ups and downs. Others, however, follow a path of constant evolution, improving and improving with each new title. Pikmin 4 marks the apex of the franchise, bringing (almost) everything good that previous games have already presented, in addition to excellent new features and the implementation of all these elements in a pleasant and inviting way. If this fourth title isn't able to win you over, I don't know what will.

A return in style for a saga that deserves much more popularity. Pikmin 4 is fun and challenging, but also accessible, original and very well polished. An essential title with Nintendo's seal of quality.
