From its peerless combat to its outlandishly entertaining world, Bayonetta 2 is a triumph. Platinum Games has created a classic so thoroughly excellent that it can't be ignored. Action games don't get better than this.

I am fighting a Lumen Sage inside the stomach of a massive demon stingray named Insidious. Seems odd right? Wrong. This is the world that Bayonetta 2 cultivates. Non-stop action with over the top set-pieces. Inside this world of madness, Bayonetta 2 sets itself apart as one of the greatest action games of all time and the new gold, or should I say platinum, standard for hack and slash.

‎ It's a gem skillfully created by a master nostalgic for the golden age of video games who knows that banality and bad taste sometimes touch the exquisite, a lover of luxury, eccentricity, ornament and baroque: the glorious return of a wild muse.‎

Bayonetta 2 is a smashing success, and proves that the WiiU can be the home of some great core titles. Now if only the wait for those titles could be cut a little shorter. Savor this one though, because titles of this level of quality seem to be few and far in between right now.

Filled with amazingly tuned combat, countless larger-than-life moments, copious amounts of legitimately challenging boss battles, interesting locations, lovable characters, and one of gaming's most unforgettable heroines, Bayonetta 2 retains the crown as the standard for which all other stylish action games should strive to achieve. And, if you missed the start of the series, you get the original Bayonetta bundled in for free—making this some of the best action gaming $60 will ever buy.

With Bayonetta 2, Platinum Games has done an incredible job and successfully merged the most exciting elements of most popular Hack ‘n’ Slashes into its own formula and made a game that could easily be the best that this genre has to offer.

The flaws in Bayonetta 2 are in no way an excuse to miss out on this damn near perfect action fighting game. It seems like a privilege to play such a gorgeous exciting game and gamers without Wii U consoles should start reevaluating their life choices at this point.

"Deuce" is not so much different from "ones", but it's still the best slasher on the market today and the essence of what we love about the genre.

The original Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 are still magnificent nowadays, and the Nintendo Switch version succeeds to allow you to re-experience them on the latest console, even in a portable way. If you are a fan of action games but haven't tried the original version before, don't hesitate to buy the bundle. They might be the greatest action games until the releases of God of War 4 or Bayonetta 3.

Bayonetta 2 is one of the best "hack´n slash" games you can play in any console. It delivers intense combat, charming characters and non stop fun. On the down side, Switch version is almost identical to the Wii U release.

Bayonetta 2 is still an essential game despite the time since its launch on Wii U. This version may not provide excessive improvements or novelties, but if you didn't play at the time, you are facing the perfect opportunity to do so.

Despite the looming question about how well Bayonetta 2 will fare on the Nintendo Wii U, there is one thing for certain–if you're a fan of the series and own the console, you're in for a wild ride that will keep you stimulated for plenty of hours. It's absolutely a pure Bayonetta game, it's an absolute blast to play, and it absolutely belongs on Nintendo's growing roster of excellently crafted games for the Wii U.

Playing through Bayonetta 2 on Nintendo Switch allowed me to relive some of the most exhilarating, action-packed, hack-and-slash moments from the last decade of gaming. The framerate improvements alone make it a better experience than the Wii U version, and the amiibo-activated costumes at least put a fun spin on it even if there's no substantial new content for returning players. It's disappointing that the Switch version can't manage more than 720p on a big screen, but with that said, Bayonetta 2's fantastic art style holds up well.

The rhythm of combat remains the same, though it's hard to complain when it's riffing off such a heady beat, where chimed enemy attacks are lithely dodged into slo-mo pugilism, where impossible combos culminate with a 20-foot boot weaved from hair crashing from the heavens and where spinning amidst the avalanche of colour and cartoon violence is Bayonetta herself, stopping only briefly to wink at a player exhausted by the unrelenting joy of it all. Bayonetta 2's biggest disappointment may be that it's an iterative sequel, but it's not such a problem when it's iterating on genius.
