A nice game with an interesting world and story that could really use some quality-of-life updates and a price reduction.

In its own way, Gangs of Sherwood is a very focused game. The fights are entertaining, and the four characters are very well delineated from each other. It's fun to learn the combos and finish each fight in the most stylish way possible. Unfortunately, this façade crumbles as soon as you look behind the successful battles. Whether it's design, story or variety: "Gangs of Sherwood" is stuck deep in mediocrity. If you can overlook it and also grab a friend or two online, you can still have a lot of fun here.

Gangs of Sherwood offers an enjoyable and silly co-op action experience that mostly gets things right.

With a shiny presentation and swashbuckling charm, Gangs of Sherwood portends to be more than your average co-op title. Unfortunately, it turns the legendary outlaw's tale into even less than a placeholder beat 'em up.

Gangs of Sherwood is interesting due to its style and setting, but everything is spoiled by fundamental problems in gameplay and balance.

When the game opens up a bit, the combat is a lot of fun and there are plenty of scenarios to experience that keep the action varied. Don’t come for a story, but do expect some high-energy spectacle and wild action.

Gangs of Sherwood quickly showed signs of promise with its fun spin on the classic Robin Hood tale and colourful combat but fell flat about halfway to the finish line with its lack of depth in certain areas (looting) and graphical bugs. The story is okay but nothing to write home about and the combat can quickly become repetitive after playing a certain character for multiple missions in a row.

The Gangs of Sherwood had a lot of potential, whether because of the cooperation, the alternate world, or simply because of Robin Hood's big name. But it failed. Not significantly, but it failed. The title's main flaw is its very little content with semi-repetitive gameplay. Gangs of Sherwood doesn't do anything downright wrong, but it also fails to do anything right, making it just another mediocre title that will soon fade into the annals of history.

Offering a versatile experience, with a focus on action and missions divided into acts, Gangs of Sherwood stands out for its simplicity and brings with it elements of character evolution. Despite the small fonts of the subtitles and the less in-depth narrative, the title delivers engaging gameplay and hours of entertainment.

Despite Gangs of Sherwood’s shortcomings, the multiplayer mode is enjoyable, the puppet narration is entertaining, and the combat is top-notch. It may be too difficult to achieve high-style grades while on your own. This could be a great addition to your library if you enjoy updating the Robin Hood mythos and enjoy fast-paced cooperative games. The fast-paced gameplay, varied character powers, and the possibility of spectacular multiplayer cooperation make this game worth watching.

Gangs of Sherwood is somewhat ambitious, but short and contains basically no replayability.

A very basic cooperative action game without any fresh or interesting ideas. It is commendable that the authors tried not just to repeat the legends of Robin Hood, but came up with steampunk versions of them, but otherwise the game is not very original.

I'm quite disappointed by Gangs of Sherwood, as despite looking and sounding great on paper, the presentation is low-end, the voice acting is alarming, and the environments are rudimentary.

There is fun to be had in Gangs of Sherwood but it is really only found playing multiplayer either with friends or strangers. Not only does this make each act not feel as long, since there will be more people to pummel enemies but when players fall in combat it is better to have a friend pick you up than lose half your gold that you need to upgrade your character’s attributes. The entire game just feels like a mix-mash of ideas and things and while some things work, others are done better in other games.

Gangs of Sherwood surprised me by rolling its credits a few short hours after starting, but it wasn’t the brevity I found surprising - it was the fact people were willing to attach their names to what they’d done. As much as I believe in due credit, if I’d have been involved with this game I’d have asked to remain anonymous.

As a co-op gang party, Gangs of Sherwood can provide you with a few hours of fun that offers a fresh and exciting take on the legend of Robin Hood. But as a Single-player experience, it is a tough sell. The game’s premise, story, and themes are captivating thanks to its visuals, voice-overs, and performance which are impressive and enjoyable. But it is bogged down by its repetitive gameplay and barren maps that lack player interactivity. On top of that, there is no level-based progression system except for a few unlockable moves and items. Overall, it’s best if you wait for a sale on this one if you don’t have a party to hang out with.

I recommend it for the online play, but as a single-player experience I would stay far away.

Gangs of Sherwood shows initial promise with its creative setting and colourful combat but runs out of steam well before the end of its already brief running time.

The outlaws fighting the Sheriff of Nottingham, even in the modern conception, have failed to make a significant impact and are pulling the short end of the rope. Only time will tell if the game will eventually find enough fans.

There's something here that could have been brilliant. With just a little more time in the oven to give more variety in missions, a more interesting skill set and more different enemies, this could have been a fun game to play with three friends. Now it is a game that is fun for one mission and then quickly forgotten.
