Watch Dogs 2 is no great leap forward, but it sees the series headed in the right direction with more colour, more flair and a real sense of fun. The action’s solid and the mission design much less generic, while Ubisoft Montreal has given you a great set of tools and the freedom to use them as you will. If the original Watch Dogs was a mean-looking hound, all bark, no bite, the sequel’s a more playful pooch that’s all about having a good time – and it’s all the better for it.

Nasty bugs aside, Watch Dogs 2 is a superb game. A true improvement over the franchise's first outing in just about every sense. A wicked cast of characters backed up by some sharp and witting writing. A visual treat for the eyes and a good mental workout with those mind-bending puzzles. A bloody good game, basically. If you've a gap where Assassin's Creed would normally be at this time of year, Watch Dogs 2 will fill the gap, make another gap, and fill that one too.

Watch Dogs 2 is better than the original Watch Dogs, I want to make that clear first as many people are probably wondering that. I enjoyed the story, the characters, and the location which is something I did not like in the first Watch Dogs game so everything better in Watch Dogs 2 after was all a bonus. Lets not sugarcoat it though, . It’s not what Assassin’s Creed II was to Assassin’s Creed, but it’s an improvement. Watch Dogs 2 still has it’s technical issues, A.I issues, and at times repetitive mission that brings the overall score down, but overall Watch Dogs 2 is definitely worth your time and trust that Watch Dogs might have killed.

Watch Dogs 2 is the jump forward in the series that the game needed to succeed. Comparatively, it's what Assassin's Creed 2 was to the first Assassin's Creed if not even better. Watch Dogs 2 is definitely one of the sleeper hits of the year. I was expecting to have fun with it, but I wasn't expecting to become absolutely transfixed with the incredible style, characters and storyline. It's a must-play game and for those that own a PlayStation 4 Pro, you should definitely pick it up just for the visual feast alone.

Watch Dogs 2 is a much stronger open-world hacking sandbox experience than the first. While not to the same level as Assassin’s Creed 2 which accomplished much for its similarly divisive first entry, this game’s more varied mission structure and lighter-hearted tone elevates it to a must play this holiday.

Watch Dogs 2 has learned from the mistakes that Watch Dogs made. It has an interesting cast of characters, the city is full of colour and the smartphone is used well. It has some flaws however, but those don't take too much away from the experience.

Watch Dogs 2 is everything that Watch Dogs was supposed to be. San Fransisco is the place to be with stunning environments and self distance that is hard to not love.

Watch Dogs 2 has meant a great quality improvement compared to its weak predecessor. It features very polished graphics and a great story mode with personality and style.

Watch Dogs 2 is a funny to play and very good looking game. It's not perfect, though, expecially when it comes to driving sessions. Overall, we have a very nice new entry in the free roaming genre.

Watch Dogs 2 has created an immersive world, disturbingly close to the real one. It’s still a fictitious San Francisco, but sometimes it’s difficult to tell which bits are made up. With rich, in depth missions, colourful characters, and fun open world gameplay, this might just be the best game I’ve played this year.

Watch Dogs 2 is a rare sequel where the developers took a chance instead of sticking by what was a successful formula. Although I personally wasn’t a fan of the original Watch Dogs, the game sold well and Ubisoft could have easily slapped some new paint on it and released another dreary, boring game. They didn’t though, and I hope it’s a trend other developers pick up on because Watch Dogs 2 is a superior product.

I think that Watch Dogs 2 wants to say a whole lot about the contemporary world, but it never moves away from generic statements like “information good” and “military-industrial complex bad” to say anything specific. In fact, it has some profound convictions about not saying much at all. The positions it lays out remind me of competitive debate: forcefully presented but never all that convincing.

I was expecting Watch Dogs 2 to be more enjoyable than its predecessor, but I didn't expect it to be so well designed and full of heart. Watch Dogs 2 isn't reinventing the open-world game and fans of Ubisoft's special brand of go-places-and-pick-things-up gameplay will feel right at home, but it's one of the best examples the genre has to offer – as long as you don't want to shoot anything.

It’s still lacking a certain je ne sais quoi, but this is a definite improvement on the first game and a serious alternative to GTA V.

Watch Dogs 2 does a great job of demonstrating the potential perils of a too-connected world and improves upon the first game in multiple ways. This is not a guns over brains game - there is an interesting topic at play here about our society's dependence on technology and Ubisoft deserves credit for exploring this theme. The characters and narrative are leaps and bounds more engaging than the revenge tale the original game tried to paint.

With a wealth of gameplay options and a welcome degree of freedom, Watch Dogs 2 is a stellar entry in Ubisoft’s open-world hacking franchise. Minor technical and narrative concerns aside, there’s no reason for you not to check out one of the better games of this year.
